You know, while driving on a highway just passing the airport, it's good to see an airplane land or takeoff above the highway you're driving. I have that experience back on February 26, 2023.

As someone who regularly drives down the Turnpike, Ive seen this many times passing EWR. Doesn't really freak me out especially bc the runway is literally right next to the highway.

That runway 29 is used when the winds are strong out of the west or northwest but it causes delays. It’s a short runway compared to the other two that are the north, south runways. How does it cause delays ? Most of the heavies prefer the longer runways.

That's honestly a very stable approach. Even if the plane lost power entirely, it would safely glide like a glider to the runway no problem at that point, especially bc you are below decision altitude by that point (the altitude at which a pilot must decide whether to go around [if something is wrong with the aircraft or approach] or commit to the landing)
