I'm a flight attendant for United and I miss these videos. They're very informative for passengers.

Do you remember when these videos stopped being shown to passengers?
@dragontoothless4351 Жыл бұрын
@@gnnascarfan2410United phased them out around 2008/09 as the in-flight entertainment systems were updated with textual information.

It’s been a long time since I’ve flown abroad but I remember the last time I did, it was on ANA in 2010 and all the arrival videos for NRT and their US destinations were loaded up on the IFE. They were pretty much well-produced PowerPoints, not the same production value as this. The fact this video is about Chek Lap Kok would seem to date it to the late 1990s or so?

I love how the airport building is shaped like an airplane

MyleneJ, It's a rumor because the new arrival videos are for Continental. United has not made any arrival videos since 2001 when the old tulip items were around. I wish they would make new ones, but they are still too busy doing merger stuff. Plus, these were made from the Airport Wayfinder.

triniqg, Either they didn't make one for IAD, these are only on for 747s, or it's because the arrival videos have the tulip stuff.

I think I remember hearing the narrator's voice in some other travel related video for another airline. Maybe it was Asiana?

What does United use instead of these now? Delta uses a generic arrival video for US arrivals now.

What's the music on 0:18? Do any of you music experts know? I think it's a remix of Rhapsody in Blue. It'd be nice if they showed these but changed the tulips and planes to the globe-themed version.

I'm guessing this is when Chep Lap Kok was in its infancy, right after Hong Kong became independent. But is it technically China, like it said in the beginning?
@BrownBrother278 жыл бұрын
Hong Kong is a part of China since the transfer of sovereignty from the U.K. to China in 1997. HK's government and power are independent of the Chinese government in Beijing except in defense and foreign relations. Hong Kongers have greater freedoms of press and movement than mainland Chinese. Hong Kong's laws and governing are based on Britain, but only half of their legislature is directly elected by voters in each district. The other half are chosen by various groups from finance to labour to real estate, and the Chief Executive of Hong Kong must be screened and approved by the Communist government of Beijing.

Can you upload the alternate language versions of the arrival videos?
