The 737, from -200 to MAX 9, is the only model that has worn every livery from the Jet Age/tail spear to United blue.

How come the DC-8 outlasted the 707 in terms of service life? The 707 was way more popular and yet most of them were retired by the early 80s whereas the DC-8 lasted significantly longer

Your data has some incorrect info. Not sure if you use Wikipedia or not, but they often allow people to add incorrect information. First, the Vickers Viscount did not start with United. Capital Airlines started Viscount service in 1955 (1st US operator). United & Capital merged June 1, 1961. United inherited this aircraft at that time.......so UA's beginning year is 1961. Also, the Boeing 757-200 was not first introduced to UA because of the 2010 UA/CO merger. UA placed a large order of these aircraft in 1988 & started flying them soon thereafter.

​@@theflyingkiwi3145 concerning the 757, remember that United flight 93, the plane hijacked on September 11,2001 and crashed in Shanksville, Pa was a 757. So that aircraft type was in the fleet since the 80's.
