No matter what branch, after your relative selection, you all undergo the same training regarding soldiering and fieldcraft. Some branches do it better but the crux is the same. British infanteers are some of the best in the world, even the basic of them can carry huge loads (tabbing, yomping, rucking) over exception distances, as demonstrated in the Falklands. San Carlos to Port Stanley. Ok, the Paras and Marines have that badge, but you can't discount the fury of the Guardsmen that day.

christopher marshall Sorry to rain on your parade the RAF Regiment does not do security inside airfields. They are doing preventive Covert observation posts, QRF, all outside the wire. Otherwise how are you going to stop a stand off attack, or have prior warning. Inside in the wire you have normal airmen( airframe fitters, engine fitters, admin, storemen, etc) During playing enemy on tacavales at RAF Bruggen the airmen did have the habit of falling a sleep in HAS, or sandbag sangers We used to remove the working parts from their rifles. The worst was a certain USAFE base in the U.K. where for the Exercise they flew in Texas National Guard to beef up there security. They got them to dig foxholes 25 yards apart, near the main security fence ,but the problem the exercise was in February, and we found many on the verge of hypothermia! I am surprised none of them died on that Winter Exercise. Sure you are not really a CFAV ?

What about a support group for women who love men in British Special Forces? We pray for these men, sometimes never hearing from them again, not knowing if he’s out there living his life or dead. Men shouldn’t just disregard women who care about them and leave them to worry. We pray for you even when we have no contact, a good woman still prays and acts as a guardian for the soldiers she knows. Those women do a service too. To all the women here who feel the same, God knows the efforts and prayers we give. And that is just as important as a man who serves. God loving women and their connection to God through prayer and devotion is something to respect. I don’t need Josiah to come back and be my man if that’s not what he wants. I just want him alive and well. Because love isn’t an attachment. It’s a desire for your well-being. And many women have prayers for soldiers. We are out here connecting you to God whether you write home to us or not. We pray for you. We care. 🥰

It was in my time possible to do the royal marine commando course, although you were in the RN, RAF, ARMY etc. Once completed you got the green berets like the RM commandos having completed the course and been selected.

The Royal Naval Commandos were a commando formation of the Royal Navy which served during the Second World War. The first units were raised in 1942 and by the end of the war, 22 company-sized units had been raised to carry out various tasks associated with establishing, maintaining and controlling beachheads during amphibious operations. Royal Naval Commando parties took part in all Allied amphibious landings from early 1942 to the end of the war, when they were disbanded. Operations included the landings at Diego Suarez on Madagascar, Operation Torch, Operation Neptune, the Screwdriver operations in Burma, Operation Market-Garden and the assault on Walcheren.
