As I know, 350 nm from the base line is not only the fact that delineate the continental shelf. There are so many things to consider when delineating the continental shelf. Can you explain it more… Btw, this video is a very good one.. informative. Thank you.❤

Hi Kavinda, This video was made keeping in mind people even from outside the industry can understand. Thank you for the suggestion, we will forward it to the team for an in-depth explanation of this topic 👍
@pavithralakshan53362 жыл бұрын
the continental shelf is the seabed area within the outer limit of the territorial sea and continental margin. or if the continental margin < 200NM from the baseline, the continental shelf is the seabed area within 200NM from the baseline. but if the continental shelf is extend beyond 200NM from the baseline, defining continental margin is as follow:- 1-the 1% sediment thickness line from the FOS, or 2- the 60NM line from the FOS. but the continental shelf will not exceed beyond 1- the 350NM line from the baseline & 2-the 100NM line from the 2500m iso bath Notwithstanding if there are submarine ridge, the continental margin cannot extend up to 350NM. if the continental shelf extends beyond 200NM from the baseline, the coastal state should delinate the outer limits of continental shelf by straight lines not exceeding 60NM length, connecting fix points defined by coordinates.

In territorial waters the state has full control and can enforce law as it were land, but in contiguous zone the state can only enforce laws in four specific areas (customs, taxation, immigration, and pollution)

There will be no Extension of the EEZ for India as it is difficult when India shares maritime boundaries with its neighbouring countries such as the Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Hello sir I have a doubt that if there are two persons of a same country and get killed by internal disturbance within themselves and if that is happened beyond 200nm then that will come under international law tribunal or comes under the jurisdiction of the respective country?
@joshnaulu33932 жыл бұрын
If the situation or case you've mentioned above is within the 200nm of the EEZ then it is under the jurisdiction of the respective country. It will only be dealt by the International Law tribunal if the incident took place outside of the EEZ(200nm)

A ship can enter the contagious zone, however, you are still under the jurisdiction of nearest coastal state if there is any illegal activity, anti-pollution activity or accident.

To those who are ignorant about International Maritime Law. READ THIS 👇 The Indian Ocean is not solely owned by India. South China Sea is not solely owned by China. All countries surrounding the Indian Ocean and South China Sea have established Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ). These EEZs grant coastal states exclusive rights over the exploration and use of resources within 200 nautical miles from their coastlines. Only greedy countries, like China, choose to disregard 200-nautical mile EEZ established under UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) because they falsely believe that they will emerge victorious in disputes against other countries using their financial and military power.
