In the recent past, only 1 or 2 Marine Corps fighter squadrons have deployed with aircraft carriers at a time. Currently, the two Marine Corps Fighter Attack Squadrons deploying with carrier air wings are VMFA-314 Black Knights, flying the F-35C Lightning II, and VMFA-323 Death Rattlers, flying the F-18C Hornet, both stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. Go to college, score well on asvab, meet the physical requirements for IST, and meet physical requirements for any additional schoolhouse pilots have. I'd assume SERE school. If you want to fly USMC has some kickass aircraft. Fighters, CAS, transport tiltrotors.

@@altitudepilot3146 no clue. The contract I signed is boom boom shooty shooty. The mos is probably somewhere in 75xx which is pilots iirc. I'm still waiting to ship out but the gunny at my station is a crew chief so I could ask him and get back to you. I'd imagine that, regardless of branch, if the US government dedicates that much time and money turning you into an officer and a pilot (I think it's the longest pipeline dont quote me lol) you'll get seat time. Might not look like it but aviation is a huge part of the corps. Supposed to be part of the whole expeditionary always ready thing I guess. I have no clue, just glad they're on our side.

@@altitudepilot3146 aim higher than infantry buddy. there's a lot cooler jobs in the military that let you pull triggers than being an 11b or 03xx. Shoot for a more specialized combat arms job, special forces, or go be a pilot. Personally, I think being a pilot would be kick ass. I just don't like college. I went, didn't like it, left, and now I'm doing this. If you don't mind college go be a pilot and make more money too since you'll be an officer. That being said, no hate to infantry guys, y'all are the backbone of the fighting force.

Sea Harrier - retired by the UK in 2006, retired by the Indian Navy in 2016. One remains in flyable condition owned by Art Nalls in Maryland and currently for sale.

We are still using the harrier. it just got extended, again. However, they will not be going out on any more MEUs. 214 just came back from the last Harrier MEU.

VMA-214 just returned from their final deployment with the 11th MEU on 22 March 2022. They have been redesignated as VMFA-214 and have begun to transition to the F-35B. A detachment from VMA-542 flying AV-8Bs is currently embarked with VMM-263 REIN aboard USS Kearsarge as part of the 22nd MEU.

@@AA-xo9uw Brass changes the plans all the time. At the time of that comment, the harrier wasn’t supposed to deploy anymore. The f 35 roll out was slower than predicted. Big surprise, the harrier got extended. I know because I was the one maintaining them.
