Conagra recently recalled a large quantiity of ground meat products primarily in the new england region. The reason was isolated beef banned from human consumption made its way into the ground beef line. What does this mean? Cows sometimes develop very large accesses. These need to be drained and dealt with as part of the animal husbandry process. But when thousands of cattle are in packing feed lots, its not always possible to do this. When that carcass gets cut open, the abscesses explode contaminating the area of the line surrounding the affected carcass. The line is immediately shut down and major disinfection procedures begun. The contaminated beef in the area is discarded and stamped NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Sometimes, this beef gets through and ground into minced meat products. If this has grossed you out, it should. Many folks have gone to sourcing beef from local small farms where the condition of the cattle are known at every step of the process. The government cannot tolerate folks growing their own food or sourcing it from independent small, producers where they have no control over you. They are using a myriad of methods to try to shut down these small, often homesteader type operations including alleged avian flu jumping species, denying access to irrigation water, forcing USDA inspection stamps which are virtually unobtainable for small operations, and now, implying that land, food supplies etc. are contaminated by PFAS chemicals that last forever. Chemicals none of us have heard of. Chemicals whose negative affects are barely known or not known at all. Chemicals that are allegedly used in everything, yet no solid data exists as to who is making this stuff and who is using this stuff. Chemicals that the government is in no hurry to ban. This whole thing stinks worse than a bad wheel of stilton cheese!!!!!

I'm in Sussex County, Delaware. Delaware has the biggest chicken industry in the USA but that's going away. Somehow our government had land to donate to a few of the big cooperations. A majority of the cooperations also get 25% of the construction paid for with tax payer dollars and they also get 10 years of not having to pay tax. Local residents are having their land eminent domained and property taxes have doubled. The businesses and housing developers are supposed to attract more people. They are but the farmers are also selling out because they cant afford to farm anymore. The chicken industry is starting to quickly dissappear here. Our politicians know this but dont care.

Interesting fact on Organic farms. My grandparents had an Organic farm,raise corn,wheat,soybeans,oats,alfalfa on 80 acres. They also had a health food store on the farm in the 70s. On a positive note, there is a young lady who is a scientist in Canada and she has come up with a new method for water filtration that can successfully remove PFAS which will be great when it’s available commercially.

Why can’t the bill have a fixed clause that farm titles stay in original owners hands, unless they agree to transfer, and this money simply is allotted to these small farms to clean up the pollution! NO TITLE TRANSFERS
