Impossible! The Philippine Navy is allergic to ships using gas turbine engines.

They should give it to us for free...to offset the high operating cost of this type of combat warship.

Even US have a hard time recommissioning these cruisers and are just successful with 2 they splashed around alot of money for these ships so it's impossible for PH to operate them

If we want real firepower and modernization. We need this kind of equipment. Two of this ships will surely boost our capabilities
@itzyaboimemez20742 ай бұрын
This is too far fetched. First of all, the Ticonderoga-class cruisers are expensive. So expensive infact that we can buy around 20 to 30 frigates, two squadrons of F-16s, and four destroyer-class ships and still have money for maintenance. The Philippines buying 13 is already going to break our economy ten-fold. Second, the Ticonderoga-class are not for sale nor for donation to any country. Since the cruisers are super old by 2024's standards, using themto the 2030s would result in increase budget to around 100 billion dollars at the minimum for the Navy just for a single ship's maintenance. And Thirdly, the Philippines have no use for cruisers. Even though they seem useful for the Navy, the Ticonderoga-class cruisers are for a blue-water navy, something the Philippine Navy is not nor aiming for. The Navy is a green water navy, meaning it is tasked with coastal defense of the defense of its sovereign territorial waters, which is the aim of the Navy.

The US isn’t offering Ticos to no one. I don’t see where you got that from. Offered to sell F-16s, some are the latest Block 70 variants. Philippines decided to go with the Gripen, which I agree with.
@robertmoore74073 ай бұрын
ask for it from the US navy and strip it to bare minimum that enough for the Philippine coast guard to use and operate! the Philippine navy should not have it because it will need all sensor and offensive capability equipment on it, that is why it is going to become expensive to maintain but for the coast guard it will not be that expensive, since you will just focus on few sensor and the engine - what the Philippines need are COAST GUARD VESSEL that can much the CCP coast guard ship. right now the Philippines coast guard does not have a ship that much the Chinese coast guard vessel. just think 13 vessel with a length of 170mtrs. that is enough to meet toe to toe the chinese coast guard in the WEST PHILIPPINE SEA! the largest chinese coast guard vessel is 160mtrs and they only have 2 vessel of that class.
@derrickcruz21483 ай бұрын
Now this is impractical. The US decommissioned these ships due to high operating costs. No benefit here. If the US sees these as costly assets to keep maintaining and running, why would the Philippines even consider these?? US Budget by far exceeds the Philippines... Not even a topic that should be discussed.

promise to be broken There such Donation 2 cyclone Ship procure bu Philippine navy no military weapon All American naval ship sell to Philippine navy no military weapon compare to South Korea Frigate Sell to Philippine navy fully arm

If these ships are going to be decommissioned by the US Navy and the PH acquires them for what amount we don't know, I wonder how much maintenance will they need to keep them functional and at what cost. I like buying new vehicles because of the peace of mind knowing it is new and everything should work. If not, the warranty will cover the repair. These are things we won't get from used equipments.

Philippines cant even maintain 12 fa50 jet from south korea.. only 7 aircraft operational
@joegenson95843 ай бұрын
Are you kidding me? The Philippines can hardly maintain their few warships how much more if it's the Ticonderoga cruisers. The reason why the Americans were hesitant to donate more American decommissioned ships and fighter planes because they knew filipinos has the habit of poor maintenance and delayed purchases of equipment parts. The U.S. are more interested to donate to countries who has a long history of taking good care of donated US equipments and the Philippines is not in that situation.

What tech/systems is left in the ship's system portfolio upon transfer is regulated by US and International regulations/laws. The ships themselves would be a huge benefit to the Philippine government's defense against China's CCP intrusion into their sovereign waters in the South China Sea.

Kahit mabili yan ng Pinas lagi naman inaalis ng mga Kano Ang mga weapon and missiles systems Bago I turn over tapos babayaran ng Pinas Ang pagkuha tapos maintainance muna then tsaka bibili ng mga weapon n missile system na compatible sa mga existing brand-new Frigates, OVP, LDP from SKorea at Israel weapon system at mga lumang Corvettes na galing din sa South Korea at siempre integrate din yan sa mga bago missiles systems tulad ng mga nabili sa Israel at India. So mas maganda bumili ka ng Bago🤣
