Aaliya. America is restricting admission to Chinese students due to their hostility. UK and some European countries are restricting entry to many from Islamic countries. What about that? The Chinese students do not intend to stay in USA but move back to China to help in its development and progress from the education they receive. While students from Islamic countries intend to settle down in the western liberal countries and spread their beliefs and fulfill their ambitions and divine orders of one day ruling over the so called kafirs.

Biggest mistake USA did during Nixon time was to embrace China trying to wean it off Soviet Union. Idea was that such an embrace would ultimately democratize China. That did not happen. China took advantage of USA lifting up trade embargo, making China part of WTO and so on and became world's manufacturer of goods, sending most exports to US. A prosperous China is now the biggest threat that USA faces. There is no point of a strategic embrace any more and US is giving up on these ties gradually.

This is just an opinion of a US Diplomat NOT a statement or decision or implemented policy. Kurt Campbell's words "I would like to see more Chinese students coming to the United States to study humanities and social sciences, not particle physics." These things have to be read in a larger geopolitical context and narrative builds. One must take these things a pinch of salt.

We don't need the US to do special things for us. As for education, it is the most important thing for children in India in all households except the Muslims. India had Taxila university seven thousand years ago. Nalanda was a fully functioning university long before Alexander the invader came. Hindus revere education and Sarasvati is the goddess of divine knowledge. That is why Indian schools and universities are the best in the world. In 2001 I was teaching in the US and I met an Indian student who was going his post graduation in physics. When asked what was the most notable about the studies in the US, he said that they god more lab time than they got in India. He also said that theoretically the US curriculum was inferior to Indian.

I was a student in 80's in USA. 80-90's USA used to prefer Chinese students. Americans always do things keeping business sense in mind. Now it is great time for Indians and Indian students in USA. Bhartiy students America aayen- halat behtar hai. STEM men undergraduate karke Masters karne aa jaiye. University Assistantship yaha aa jane par deti hai, jisse kharch nikal jata hai. Ek semester ka kharch aapko ghar se lagana parega. Jo aap ashani se recover do sal men kar lenge. Ab har major city se direct flight Bharat ke liye hai. Phone free hai. Har din parents, spouse se bat kijiye. Aaiye! Aaiye!
