This is a beautiful place, with numerous examples of tasteful appointments. Since it is so huge, I can see that such a large expanse of wood may have been monotonous, leading to paint on walls. But there are natural wood accents from the tall ceilings, so I think there is still a very warm, cabiny feel. Very elegant overall.

I like it too. For me log homes can get boring with all the wood and are often quite dark. It is eclectic for sure and I am sure many will find it a fun property to own.

I love it. I agree with everyone, why did they paint all the logs.? I never thought I'd like an orange bathroom sink. Guess there's an artist spirit in me. I wish they hadn't painted so much, but find it is intriguing. Wonderful home. ❤

50 years ago, my aunt and uncle bought a general store with attached living quarters in a slowly disappearing community way up in northern Minnesota. Although the post office closed in the 1950's all of the postal fittings were still intact - the carved wood and glass service window - all the original shelving, display cases and counters were untouched since it was built in the 1890's. My aunt and uncle still issued hunting and fishing licences through the old post window (ice fishing was big), they stocked the shelves with basics and necessities (aspirin, coffee, canned goods, toilet paper, etc). My grandmother quilted and she would sell her quilts there. Out back there were a bunch of rustic cabins that were rented out when the lake froze, for use by ice fishermen. The last time I was there was around 1980 for a family reunion, my sister and I were 19 and 17, respectively, this was also the last time my family (mom, dad, big sis and little bro) vacationed together. Of course, today my grandmother, aunt, uncle and father are dead, the general store is closed, cabins gone (did I tell you the property was lake front?) and the rest of the family, if not dead are scattered to the winds. Thank you for triggering wonderful memories of a time gone by and reminding me to be grateful that I was able to experience the innocence of a simpler life.

@@markwilloughbywood3868 further down the road along the lake was a supper club in the shape of a Viking long boat - the dragon bow rearing up above the entrance. The dining room had views across the lake towards the Indian reservation. I'll tell you, this place was very rural.

@@catseyes11 good luck, so many of our beautiful small towns here in Maine have been populated with city people. They leave the big cities than come here and want what they left. They have changed our state to more city things instead keeping our state the way it always was. I'm born and bred mariner, have seen much bad since city people and out of states moved here. Go further up around the Reservations, its alot quieter, still more the traditional Maine.

The colors used and the fact the logs are painted makes this property a lot less desirable. There’s A LOT of work that needs to be done to get those horrible colors off the wood. What a shame.
