UNITRONIC - STAGE 1+ E85 VS STAGE 2 93 - AUDI RS3 COMPARISON

Unitronic VS Unitronic. RS3 VS RS3. Who is going to come out on top? Two of my buddies came out to help me see which car and which tune was faster. A Stage 1+ car on E85 or a Stage 2 car on 93 both tuned by Unitronic. A massive thanks goes out to both Charles and Matt for their time and the use of their awesome cars!

The OZ racing wheels are considerably lighter than those OEM rotar alloys. Could have been the deciding factor. Either way they're very close.

Hi mate, will the stage 1 + run ok with no hardware? I will be running 93… My 4 inch intake is being fitted mid Jan and I want the remap now 😅

It will run completely fine on all stock hardware. You just won't achieve the advertised power figures.

That answer has 101 different variables, which will contribute to the results. It's impossible to just answer that.

He is using our Chevron 94 ethanol free fuel and he mixes in 15% E85. It corrects any timing retardation and the car runs perfectly. The tune itself is simply made for 93 octane

I didnt see stage 1/e85 tune from uni. I ended up doing apr stage 1 e85 last night. O well I'll go unitronic someday maybe. I pulled a 3.0 0-60 on my very 1st launch. Spun pretty good and still a 3.0

It's Stage 1+ E85 from Unitronic, not Stage 1

I should really comment this on your Ethanol affects on timing video but.... I’m trying to work out what I need to buy and if there are cheaper alternatives. I see lots of octane boosters for instance but these aren’t just ethanol. Could I use bioethanol designed for an outdoor heater for instance? I’d appreciate some help if possible mate.

I would not recommend putting anything in your car except for pump gas, racing fuel or E85 (aka FlexFuel in some places). Other people may use different fuel types but I wouldn't in my car.

Some people use meth injection but I never have. I know Adam is not a fan because he had bad experience. I think it comes down to taking care of your kit and having a failsafe to cut boost if meth injection malfunctions like a Guardian Angel from Stratified.

Great White North - I was more so talking about Adams previous video where they increased the ethanol content in fuel and monitor the timing in each gear and over all until they found the optimum ethanol content to best suit the engine. I merely wanted to know what to add to my fuel as Ethanol isn’t readily available in uk as far as I can see. So what type of car or what tune I have were irrelevant.

Home made cooler must of cost the Stage 2 car.. ha. Different country and fuel, but that's way down on what Stage 2 RS3's on 93/98 should run IMO. I'm on the same file on UK 98/99 pump fuel and hitting 10.7 @ 128/129 in good DA. Granted that appears to be at the top end of the scale, but 11.3 @ 122 is poor for a proper Stage 2 Uni car surely? Unless run at altitude or awful DA? Didn't you get a lot better than that on that tune Adam?

SOOOO many people don't take into account every single aspect of doing 1/4 mile runs. Variables GALORE! Rotational mass (wheels, tires), Grip of tires, Density Altitude, Temperature of the road, Temperature of your tires, Temperature of the air, all of their supporting mods.... and on and on and on. One of the largest contributing factors I can attest to is the DA and temperature though. It makes a MASSIVE difference on how these cars perform. The exact same car can run in Denver, Colorado with a horrible DA and run an 11.0 at 126mph. That very same car at sea level may run an 10.6 at 130mph.

My car ran a 10.8 at 127mph on that tune with a much better DA, cooler temp, lighter tires, lighter wheels, a ton of weight reduction and every single supporting mod plus more that Unitronic asks for. It is never simply comparing apples to apples unless the 2 cars are beside each other and run one after another like I do in my videos.

Not in this video. Charles uses Chevron 94 with an 18-20% ethanol blend. Matt uses an E70 blend. Both are seeing zero timing retardation in their vehicles.

Not trying to be a d*ck but installing an intercooler on these cars isn't _that_ hard. Hell the hardest part is getting the bumper back on when I did mine. Great video though!
