Unity - A FatRat Orchestration

The waves roared around her, whisking her further and further away from the border of her prison. Her mind clouded, her thoughts everywhere as her strokes turned into erratic movements desperate to get back to what she once knew. To be anywhere but the unknown. She started to scream for help, but the second she did, water filled her mouth in cold bitterness. The salt burned her eyes, its taste choking her as it pushed to go down her throat and fill her lungs, making her another victim to the sea. Heaving gasps escapes from her as she struggled to keep her head above water. Already, her strength ebbed away, her muscles screaming to rest below in the depths of the unknown. To still and let the sea fill her lungs, taking her to the bliss of nothingness. She fought against the waves, their touch of ice numbing her limbs and calling her to die. There was nothing left for her. There was no one left for her. The only thing that had mattered was being a host to keep them all safe, and now that was gone as well. A spark ignited in her, and gritting her teeth, she pressed on. She had counted down the seconds until her time was up for years. Until the Guardian was required to release her as their host. Until she could build her own life and live to serve no purpose other than her own. She’ll be damned if after all the centuries of waiting, she’d let the sea take her soul and life before she could live it. Inhaling sharply, she scanned around her, a stir inside her telling her to. And nearly beyond her sight, a light brighter than any star she could see caught her gaze. Using all of her strength to swim towards it, her newfound resolve began to crumble. Her eyelids weighed down, begging to shut and never be opened. The energy she mustered within herself starting to wane as the distance became more and more daunting. But inside her, she felt a pull towards it. To feel its heat. To be in a place that felt so much like a home they talked about before they were swept away to shore. To throw caution to the wind and dive into the dreaded unknown. She felt the warmth expanding inside her chest the closer she got to it. She barely noticed when the ocean lost its chill, and inside, a yearning grew evermore to go to the light source. Around her, the fabric of her world began to ripple, structures and figures not there previously appearing in her vision. Warm breezes passing through her when she was surrounded by the chill of the ocean. But she couldn’t care less about them, only focusing on moving towards the light that was the closest thing to home she’d ever felt. As soon as she was near it, the ocean lost its edge. And in front of her, the water seemed to be pulled towards the light, straightening into a ramp moving into the light. And around her, the water spiraled up, building up towards the light and carrying her with it. Into the unknown. She had feared the unknown, and before, took every precaution to make sure that she went into it with a semblance of knowledge. Looking at the path in front of her, she’d be lying if she said that the choice hadn’t scared her. Wait for a rescue, or dive into the unknown, either one a potential cause of her death. But she had a choice between them. The very thought of it exhilarated her for a brief moment, before she remembered that she was stranded in the ocean, with her life on the line. _Her_ life. She took a deep breath, and swam towards the water path, pulling herself up when she reached it. Drops fell from her hair making ripples in the path as she walked towards the light. Before she reached to touch it, she cast a final look behind her. Calm waves replaced the furious roars, Land was in sight, and she was with people she hoped where her family. When she shook her head, the sight reverted back. Forcing a breath in her lungs, she crossed into the unknown. (A/N: guess which procrastinating person is blowing off algebra homework in favor of doing literally anything else. _sadly points at self with a pained smile._ also, like, the person didn’t die. Don’t worry about what happened to her. It’ll all come together.)

You've outdone yourself this time, Rush. It manages to be driving and hopeful without feeling sappy: if anything, I notice a deeper level of emotional nuance than in the original piece. 3:51 on is particularly incredible. You capture the spirit of the song while bringing deeper heart out of it. That ending is particularly remarkable. It manages to be gentle, soft and deeply tender in such a simple way. Fantastic job!

i was like in third grade and i always wanted to fall asleep with music and remembered listening to unity on loop. it was literally my lullaby to sleep. around sixth grade, i was an avid listener of thefatrat downloading lots of his music to listen to anywhere to escape reality and imagine living in the world of those artworks in the video thumbnails it was a good adventure and now nearing college in a fewwww few few more years i returned to thefatrat again after so long and i certainly do need a place to take a break again from time to time considering im growing up and more problems and stress add up and i feel like im sinking and getting sucked into a void slowly from these
