this is fine if you are in a rural open space like in the video. But I'm in the center of Thessaloniki (Greece's second largest city) and GPS cannot be trusted. No code can do miracles if the satellites can't see you.

It is true that "No code can do miracles if the satellites can't see you". But, here in Brazil at least, GPS usually works pretty well on large cities (of course, there will be blind spots in some places) because devices use WiFi hotspots to increase precision. But sure, GPS precisio will vary from place to place and from device to device.

@@dmbfm Google is now experimenting with AR maps. But they don't rely on position, rather they do image processing/recognition from the camera. That's because location cannot be trusted in urban environments and that is true in Brazil, in Greece, in NYC, on Mars

Imperial Dynamics it all depend on how precise you want it to be. They use image recognition to be 100% accurate. GPS will be a couple of meter off at least, sure. But if it were as bad as you are saying nobody would use google maps or mobile gps in big cities at all
