"So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today." (Matthew 6: 31- 34) Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your provision and guidance, every day. Thank you for giving us the wisdom and courage to rely on You. Amen.

I thought the rock upon whom Jesus built His church was Peter's confession of the Christ?
@donnawaldie61674 жыл бұрын
You are correct Jefferson. Jesus was using a play on words - He said “You are Peter (Petros) or ‘rock man’. And on this rock (Petra - feminine for rock but not a personal name,) I will build my church.” Because Peter had just confessed Christ as God, Jesus commended his statement of faith. This statement or confession of faith is the rock on which Christ built His church.

I always enjoy and benefit from your talks. However, this one troubles me; it has echoes of the “we are taking steps” in a previous one. Perhaps I have misinterpreted it. Good points: Racism - there is no room for it anywhere, anytime, by anyone. New churches in the urban areas - great idea and a great opportunity for new blood. However, a closed church at a time when it is needed is no use to anyone and indeed is counterproductive. Equality of opportunity to encourage, foster and draw out the best of everyone, their talents and gifts, regardless of their background. There will always be inequalities - I don’t believe the Bible says otherwise, rather it is how we deal with these inequalities that matters. I would hate anyone to think they had been appointed to a position because of their colour, gender or social background, rather than being called by God.

I too share some concerns about this , it sounds more like social reform to me.

Women bishops are not biblical .?

In the video Nicky talks about three different things as if they are one thing: -equality of status before God -equality of function -unity There is absolutely no doubt about the equality of status of every human being before God. There are no exceptions - not sex or race or intellect etc. Nicky quotes Galatians 3:26-28 which shows this. Ok, enough about equality of status. It’s a no brainer. But now let’s talk about equality of function. A large number of Christians currently believe that for people to be treated as equally valuable they must have equality of opportunity. This is self-evidently false. The very fact that some people are born with different intellect, skills and orientations, making them suitable from day one for very different contexts, is proof in itself alone that God does not support this idea. It’s also patently obvious that gender is itself a form of orientation. Men and women are wired differently - and are therefore not equally suited to the same opportunities. Two days ago I chatted to a women who entered a complicated 15 character password while not skipping a beat in our conversation. Men cannot do that. But the differences between men and women and far more substantial than that. The sexes are made with different strengths. There is no way that you can expect to have a reasonable conversation with anyone regarding what the Bible has to say about men and women as long as they approach the bible with the wrong presupposition that justice means equality of function. So if I have convinced you the presupposition is wrong, don’t even try. Look elsewhere. And that leaves the final thing - unity. Nicky in talking about Gal 3:26-28 acts as if equality of value to God is itself a reason why we are unified. But he actually never talked about unity - he only acted as if our professing a faith and being equally valuable to God was all the cause for unity we need. Is it? Am I am unified with a priest who abuses children because he is no less valuable to God than me and because he professes a faith? What then is the foundation for unity in Christ? If you ask Nicky he’d tell you it’s goodwill. If people bear with the failings of others then we will be unified. Did you get that? If I profess a faith and no matter what I do - no matter how I behave - Nicky is saying that unity can be maintained if you show patience towards my wrongdoing. That’s an outrageous idea of course. Its despicable - the same kind of logic that underlies the very worst atrocities. Eph 4:11-14 shows us what Christian unity is. We see that it grows as people grow in holiness. That truth leads automatically to three other truths: -that unity is damaged by sin -that unity is repaired by repentance -that unity cannot be created or repaired by goodwill - by tolerance towards wrongdoing. In refusing to preach about God’s holiness, justice and mercy Nicky is, sadly, and no matter how seemingly noble he appears in the video, committed to destroying Christian unity. And not just unity - holiness too. Nicky is committed to moving towards support for same sex marriage and parenting. You may not have realised it but that’s the logical consequence of arguing that the differences between men and women are meaningless. So the fact that the Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman is proof alone to you that Nicky and many other Christian leaders’ ideas about gender have to be wrong.

He is indeed destructive of true church unity, as many other evangelical leaders today.

I know I am a wee bit Raciest. It's something I need to work on. It's been a culture shock here in Atlantic Canada Because 26 years ago... We had No other ethic groups other then Whites. My Local University made apact with a Chinese school to exchange students and that was the first time I had seen large numbers of Foreign people in my Local area. All my school kids where white or greek. iIrish. English. I never saw the Brown race or Black race. Now as an adult. I feel uncomfortable around other ethic groups.. Does that make me a racist?? Or the fact I want my white culture to expand and start having millions of babies.

Hi otahu26 I know how you feel , I grew up in a small village and only recall white English and Welsh but later we moved to near London , there We saw other races and felt uncomfortable , i think this is just natural , when we first trust in Christ these things take time to sort but they will , it's called sanctification , a work of the Holy Ghost , there are so many injustices in this world but one day it will be over when Christ returns , I'm white British and not ashamed as many would like me to be , you and I are what God created us to be and when we believed in Him He makes us new , as it says in scripture and it takes time for us to change, may God make you what He wants you to be.

There will not be diversity in heaven , from forever thirsty. Conclusion: The ultimate answer to your question is found in Revelation 21-22 which describes the new heaven and earth. In Revelation 21:24 we are told that people from the various nations will be in heaven. That is, those who believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him will live there for eternity. But the culture of heaven will be God’s culture. Everything is new. Heaven and earth will be new. The old will have disappeared and the new will have come. Sin will be gone and racial prejudices and alliances will be gone. We will be different people too! We will have new immortal bodies. Our focus will not on each other but on God. We will worship and enjoy God so much that we will not care about the culture and race issues of our former lives. Listen to these words,

There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever. Rev 22:3-5 (NASB)

If Nicky Gumbel moves away from Holy Scripture to “Gay” marriage and the ordination of homosexuals, I’m done with him. Not that it will be noticed or cared about. But all the charm, congeniality and intellect that keeps me watching now will mean nothing if he befriends the world. Friendship with the world IS enmity with Christ. We are set apart for God, that is the definition of sanctity. Please Lord, keep Nicky Gumbel straight on this issue. In Your Holy Name, I pray.

For the record I understand genuine transgenderism. I'm simply raising an eyebrow as to what he means. Especially as some say there are 100+ Genders etc.

Why he seems to find a mixed race church revolutionary beggars belief , the Holy Spirit will tell who should be a leader , don't be surprised that in England there are sometimes a lot of English in a church.. Not be ashamed of being English , there have been many many white English reformers in the past and present . This looks like social reform to me.

A political preach. Scripture not the hanger Nicky hanged on, but being politically correct. So sad. Yet i agree on equality of humanity in terms of Gods love for mankind -John 3:16. But, if you change to fit the status quo or the political correctness of mass representation, rather than allowing God to point or appoint leadership. This has just become another human driven church! Repent, and return to the ways of God.

Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control. - 1 Timothy 2:11-15
