An ex-Michigan State Police Unity RV-26 beacon with spitfire dome. A classic.

We used to have an old Fire Truck from the early 1980's that had 2 of this exact Red bubblegum bubble rotating lights on it, but our State Police Vehicle's back in the 1980's & 1990's had Blue Stobe light's, but, no rotating lights.

That takes me back down memory lane. A lot of those appeared pink at night. I assume from being in the sun constantly.

The ones with the clear bands -- like this one -- always looked pink to me. I assume that the clear element was supposed to make the light a little brighter, but it always washed a little of the red color out, especially at night.

It was the effect of the Spitfire dome.

I have an RV-26 from a retired MSP Trooper. How did you wire the light to the power supply? I would like to get it working and give it back to him as a gift. TY.
@JohCraLightsАй бұрын
If two wires, red to 12V+, black to 12V-. If only one wire, it should be power and just ground to the metal base. Fortunately with these lights, if you cause a short, and remove it quickly, you won't typically cause damage to the light.

@@JohCraLights there is 1 wire coming out of the bottom. Using a DC Converter 110v to 12v, could I add a 12v- wire connect to the metal base housing? I'm trying to keep it as neat as possible. TY

Assuming wiring is typical then yes, that should work. There's likely a place you could anchor a ring terminal to inside the light (often where the motor and or bulb ground wires are connected). I sold the above light so I can't look to see how it was wired.

@@JohCraLights that's what I was hoping you'd say. I saw that screw inside attached to the base for the rotator. There are 2 wires connected there. Thank you for your help!!

Is there a site that sells the American type?
@JohCraLights Жыл бұрын
Yes. I do not know which sites offer international shipping but look at rescuemarket.com and lightbarsalvage.com, as well as eBay.
