Nerve Blocks and Spinal Anesthesia

This is very important for people that cannot have general anesthesia safely. Almost all surgeries can be done with regional anesthesia even open heart surgery. You can be paralyzed from the neck down for the surgery. I personally cannot have sedation either due to heath issues. Only a handful of surgeries cannot be done with regional anesthesia.

Having major pain 6 weeks after blocker. I wish I wouldn’t Have done it. Had a super great surgery without the blocker. I’ve had both hips done. Another person I know Had a very bad experience With the blocker. Just think about we’re there giving the shot there’s a lot of nerves there. U just have to do your own research and see what’s the best for you.

I had an epidural for both my labors with my kids. Now I might need hysteroscopy with biopsy of a small polyp. I'm debating on spinal anesthesia or going fully under. I have 3 surgeries in my life and went fully under but I'm afraid still. I'm also thinking if its only going to be a few mins why not just do a spinal. I want to avoid GA If I can. If I can handle an epidural...is the spinal the same for hysteroscopy just stronger? Does it affect your breathing or anything

From what I am aware, spinal blocks are only administered below the cervical spinal nerves since the upper spinal nerves regulate breathing through the diaphragm; This would prevent there being any affect on breathing. Spinal blocks however are much less precise than GA and may at times not work as intended.

I think they numb the lower area beforehand in a different video I’ve watched before, not completely sure.

@@frozenmuffinz7308ooh it doesn’t matter I already went through my surgery, it wasn’t painful its just a small prick when it punctures the skin but from there i felt nothing. I was having an Inguinal hernia mesh repair

@@frozenmuffinz7308 yes they do but this so heavy on body as soon as I get the injection in my surgery I felt black out and lay down on bed after 15 sec it was gone and after 1-2 min I was out woke up in isu fun i guess 😂
