Thank you for your test. Exacly what I am finding, TML 103 + 610 Preamp. I do believe this Preamp will make my TML 103 warmer, fuller, smoother <3

Really appreciate this video. Helping me close to a decision. I've been doing tons of reading on Mic Preamps which can get confusing and exhausting. Thanks!!!

Neat video. Much warmer pre amp and the comp fixed the minor clipping. Much more professional sound. I don't know why but polarity out sounded better to me too. Thanks

You shouldn't be using XLR input on your Focusrite. You are sending amplified line signal of LA610 into high impedance microphone input. Get XLR to balanced 1/4 stereo jack. This way you bypass Focusrite's cheap pre and avoid impedance mismatch. Overall way better quality. That is also why you can't turn up the GAIN knob all the way to the right, so LA610 gets kind of choked.

I’m just learning how to use mine. I know when you are setting the compression, you have to have the meter knob on GR

Nice job. got my 610 couple of months ago...been experimenting a bit without desired success...just finished trying your method in conjunction with my own...laid down some short vocal passages and "vola" ...many thanks for the imput...much improved. Guess it's just as I've been reading...find a starting point, twiddle the knobs...flip the switches and give it a listen...once more thank you.

Hey! Thank you for making this video, it is appreciated by the community. I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I'm having with my 610. When the unit is in preamp only mode the signal is perfectly fine and outputting and reasonable levels with tuning, however the moment I engage the optical compressor the output level gets exponentially decreased and no amount of tweaking can bring it back up to a reasonable level(I'm talking peaking at about -38db here). Have you experienced anything similar or do you think my unit might be malfunctioning? Thank you for your help!

You generally want about 3 decibels of gain reduction showing on your meter when you compress. Once you see that you're getting 3 db of compression then you push up the "make up gain" knob to where you have a good level.

Great video. I have the UA Solo 610 and every gig 20 people tell me how great my sax sounds. So now do I jump to the LA 610 and add compression? This video will help me decide.
