Currently, the British government is struggling to curb runaway food inflation. Downing Street is heading for confrontation with supermarkets over a proposed voluntary price cap. Will the UK government find a way to address the cost-of-living crisis? Palki Sharma decodes

Inflation is an increase in money supply. The inflation we are experiencing now is the result of printing money for the pandemic and bank bailouts. There is no such thing as free money it will create inflation and become worthless.

The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. $52k dividends received in 2022.

I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. You still need to have something that will keep you going even if you're investing. Good financial planning and money allocation is the key.

True, the idea of a portfolio-coach used to sound generic, but a new study by investopedia actually found that demand for portfolio-coaches sky-rocketed by over 41.8% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounters, I can say for certain their skillsets are topnotch, I've raised over $700k from an initially stagnant reserve of $150K all within 14months.

Super markets here in the UK are benefitting like the energy companies at the people’s expense. Staff/cashiers are being replaced by self service checkouts. After a long tiring day at work we are now also having to scan and pack trolley loads of essential food shopping. There are hardly any staff for general queries. Basically one off technology expense is replacing paying employees hence increasing profits. Shameful that these organisations are refusing. How greedy are the greedy?

we dont have dollers in the uk its called pounds ( your video ) and the reason we have a problem in the uk is becasue the BOE keeps raising intrest rates well above whats needed and the companys have to pay more interest on the money borrowed so raise the price of goods to cover the extra costs. the goverment are trying the best to get money out of the population by fixing the price of energys ..so they get extra vat money ..and freezing tax codes. more the banks make. the more the governent can windfall tax them along with the energy companys. Yet in the UK we still have nearly twice the spending power of our German counterparts. Also Germany sick man of Europe, as it's entered a technical recession after 2 quarters of negative growth in its economy. The UK is doing fine and it's economy can tank the inflation, the government can even afford to pay a universal basic income. The UK also just joined the CPTPP trading union, which will see it have access to the fastest growing economies on the planet, which is estimated to have the majority of the worlds middle class by 2050. Europe's predicated to again half it's global share of GDP, this is on top of the halving of GDP share since 1980 till now. Europe is in very bad shape, the UK is "tip top tutti fruity". @Dan G - I get that. But I can't go to the store and take milk off the shelf and let them know that money is a concept. The way they want to pay Peter a universal income is by extracting money from Paul. Once one goes down the rabbit hole of money, financial systems and politics it gets pretty dark and crazy.

The UK may have higher inflation than others at the moment in the EU, but we are far from the sick man in Europe. A large number of Indians in india have jobs because of the UK, a large part of the Indian population wants to move to the UK, why? Why do hundreds of thousands of people travel through large parts of Europe, including Germany and France to immigrate to the UK…Because the UK is a land of opportunity where people matter, the politics is powerful enough to make a change if something is not working, rightly or wrongly. Can first post stop painting the UK in a negative light, no one buys fake news.

Imagine being a supermarket fat cat and resisting robbing the general public whilst they’re already insanely rich and refusing caps and would rather see the other 99% of the population suffer more than they already are. Ethics and morals, funny things those. Imagine our government agreeing that extreme minority and agree, the vast majority suffering is the more plausible option. I’m not religious, but I really hope there’s a hell for some people afterlife.

Good luck to the UK then. Universal Basic Income is the same as money printing thus increasing money supply. Increased money supply makes all other money worth less, which will make inflation sky rocket. Maybe in a few years we will be the new Zimbabwe with 1000% inflation.

The govt does know how to address it however they don't want to address it because it would be very unpopular. All the countries that have afrfressesd the problems have been able to because their property prices are much lower. The uk relies on extortionate property prices to borrow money ie from credit, the UKs credit is out of control because they think the property prices will keep going up enabling them to borrow even more. What they need to do is crash the property prices so new money can get in and control property prices like the French do.

HIYA! 😁 As a UK pensioner(state pension) I get £10,000 a year or £200 a week and I would love to get UBI because my income would go up 100%, of course by the time its rolled out I will probably not be here. This present Tory Government is doing a terrible job of running the country, Inflation is really hitting us poorer people, especially food prices BUT to be honest I can't see a Labour Government doing much better although I don't see how they can do worse. UBI would have to be a complete shift from what we have at the moment because the money flows upwards and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, UBI would mean some of that flow reversing as it would be paid for by increasing taxation and the rich don't like that, and I can see them shifting up a gear to keep the existing system going by lobbying MP's and using MSM to rubbish the idea, I can see them calling it Communism or Marxism and trying to frighten the public. And the British are like sheep, as was shown during Covid, and if the BBC are against it no way will it ever be implemented!

Lol the world doesn't work so simple. UBI will destroy the economy. inflation will go to high unimaginable. Nobody is going to do low-paid jobs. This whole inflation became a problem not because of the rich getting richer. its because of the poor getting richer. Its because of the free money being distributed during covid. There is way too much money in the market . If the government taxes the rich very high then fewer ppl will invest in the UK.

I come from Western UP, although the situation has improved alot there in terms of basic infrastructure in the last 20 years, alot needs to be done still for a state like that to be called "developed" to say the least. The rise of AI and AGI technologies has prompted discussions about how to tax companies that rely on these services, with the aim of ensuring that the advantages of automation are distributed more equitably. Various proposals have been suggested, including a robot tax based on the quantity of robots or AI systems utilized, a value-added tax that compares the value added by AI systems to that of human workers, an adjusted corporate income tax that considers the use of AI or AGI services, and an automation tax based on the degree of automation in a company's operations. These proposals aim to generate revenue to support workers displaced by automation, through initiatives like job retraining programs or universal basic income. Although there is no agreement yet on the optimal method for taxing companies using AI or AGI services, it is evident that this matter needs attention as these technologies progress. By establishing a just and efficient tax system, we can help ensure that automation serves the broader society, rather than solely benefiting a select group of companies or individuals.
