I think Councils have been given money to dole out to low income households. I think Paul should apply for funds for a washing machine and rent and council tax rebate/help. Please apply for all your entitled to.

I have been through severe financial hardship a few times in my life through ill health and luckily had family to help (though there were times I felt too proud to ask for help). There were no food banks then unfortunately. I give large donations of food to food banks whenever I can now as I hate to think of people going without as I know how it feels. If you can help foodbanks etc I would encourage you to do so as the need for food donations is growing dramatically. Our local foodbank we donate to is now looking after ten times more families than they were a few years ago. It is so sad that foodbanks should be a necessary part of our society.

for single claimants without children £1,229.42 (more inside london) a month is the most you can be awarded including the rent element of the payment. So someone has got their sums wrong here. Did he inform UC of the rent rise? Even a cursory look at the allowances' and benefit cap for UC single guy, and hearing his rent amount, something is not right here. Citizens advise springs to mind.

@@mrmeldrew693 Yes inflation makes that amount about what you could get for being unemployed now. But that is the maximum, and is only inflated to pay the rent element part of it. The standard benefit now is about £98 pw to live on + your rent is paid, called the rent element. So even if you got the full amount you will still only have £98 to live on. The rest will be to give to your landlord. Thats why this clip doesnt make sense.

People need to do batch cooking, chilli con carne! Stews, you can fill them up with all sorts. Also use camping stoves with the windows open can't use them with them closed! Stop using laundrette I washed clothes in the bath, had no fridge, sold my bed used camping cookers I had to do this for different reasons for a month before I moved hundreds of miles away. He can live if he thinks outside the box. Does he have any family, can he get a bike to get about on that's another thing I did, got my food from aldi

I live on half a bag of rice a day with no heat on what cooking I do is in a micro wave to save on energy use. I do have thermal underwear and recommend this to all pensioners. Yet if I rock up on a boat I would be in a paid for hotel 3 meals a day and heating all paid for. There are a lot of people who are reduced to eat to live not live to eat.

His rent is probably higher than his LHA allowance, he needs to find somewhere cheaper to live, if you are single you will only get the rent for a single room property , any extra rooms bring a penalty with them on the rent allowance

What i found is my money went on the damn Pay and Go meter for the leccy, a very expensive way of paying for it. People need to get on a fixed rate, pay monthly direct debit credit meter, if their credit score lets them. Its a damn sight cheaper.

So in theory all his rent should be covered plus £90+ pw to live on. (is the norm) £30 a month for food is not correct, he hasnt claimed properly? or hasnt been advised? or got some money stopped for non complying, or doesnt understand what they told him to do about it.

Any butchers or market to weight out bacon, cheese etc. Omelettes cheap eggs add to them Certain shops reduce thing's Certain times. Ie brioche rolls x 4 aversge 2.30. In this shop 22p the same. Anyone to help some communities have free meals. Go library and see snything local. Chsrgr up phone library etc. Do yoy need to buy tins Ie cheap onions ie French onion soup. Ie cup a soup s 45 to 65p in Tesco 3/4 packet s. Go library etc if need light reading. Westherdpoon cheap refillable coffee. He needs help.
