Wonderful video, Thank you for creating this. jeep is legendary , it's man's best toy , jeeps has its own values, that's why its been said, " it's a jeep thing you wouldn't understand " love the older jeeps , Nothing can be compared with the tuneful sound that comes from an old jeep, especially if driven on warm summer nights From a distance, you can figure out with the elevated headlight beam that it's a jeep . These are true facts to me Mazher Khan Smithville ON Canada

The jeep (and the brave soldiers that used them) were one of a handful of pieces of equipment that won the great war.

my veterinarian uncle bought a privately owned willys jeep from an american soldier living in Clark airbase here in the Philippines during the late 1950's, when he migrated to the U.S. himself he left the vehicle to my architect father which then bought the trailer which he uses when moonlighting as a building contractor, i learned to drive on this jeep at 16yrs old with students license, got a full license at 18, I installed a cassette stereo under the passenger seat and i use it with my friends to JOYRIDE around town during summer barely out of my teens late 80s it was a golden time in my life, its also very useful during monsoon season since i can wade deeper than ordinary car. that jeep was so memorable to me. it was still running when my father died in 2010! although rarely use by then due to the delapidated condition of the body. i have plans to revived it but my kins(all females) voted to sell it instead im in financial constraint at the time so i cannot buy it out , really sad seeing it pulled out of our garage its such a treasuretrove of wonderful memories of my teensand early Twentys life.. this video made me relive those memories.. im in my mid 50s now.

I belong to a military truck group and there are lots of WWII jeeps of varying types, great bunch of guys absolutely just a blast to be around BUT their Jeeps are treated like like, I will call them the Golden Girls!! Things cannot be to hard, muddy, rough, big ruts, all conditions are a reason NOT to drive on this road. I drive a German Unimog U1300 and I am looking for the snarliest nasty thing I can find to drive through. I respect each and every one of these guys but it can take a little of the sport out of the game!

Even as late as the 1940s,there were people who'd never driven a motor vehicle of any sort,yet there the government was,putting them behind the wheel & controls of Jeeps,trucks,tanks,aircraft & ships.

LOVE IT! I purchased the Kelly's Heroes soundtrack just for this song. And I listen to it while I drive to work every so often. For me this song is so synonymous with WWII Jeeps that I want to get a WWII radio set for my 1944 GPW and modify it to play music and blast this song as I drive down the road...

@welshpete124 жыл бұрын
The jeep was better designed then they knew . Believe it or not there was a suggestion to convert them in to a sort of helicopter , then tow them behind a bomber over to France for the D-Day invasion ! It would have consisted of a free spinning main rotor like a modern 'copter . With a canvas tail , twisted to counteract the torque from the main rotor . Which would be detached on landing. On test one was filled with concrete , and dropped from a height and found it could withstand 11 "G " !
unreliable and unsafe??? these jeeps are rock solid and practically bulletproof. its man that has salliedout

@thomaskerley13882 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreymccarty1388 About one percent of accidents involve fire, about the same for landing in water. You have a much better chance of smashing your face into the windshield. There are no guarantees in any given situation but it only makes sense to go with the best odds.
