Can you pls tell me what to do after I’ve chosen an artist name? Meaning is just making socials with the name sufficient or should i do other things to solidify it as MY name? Is it just the most popular person who has the name that can run with it or am I supposed to copyright it?Thanks.
@ldre_tv8 ай бұрын
Honestly it’s just whoever is most popular with the name haha I like how you put that. If you are extra serious and have money to burn you could trademark the name. But I hear it’s super oricey

Artists and producers need to do same the thing to all the labels and streaming services that are ripping artists and producers off. No music producers or artists means no music industry.

Not trying to start anything here but think about what you said at 2:22 Instead of creating your own unique sound you piggyback off someone elses sound and create specifically for the social media viral hit which is fleeting at best. I know the intent is to get people to listen to the rest of your catalog but that isn't how music works when it comes to making short form focused sounds. It is shortsighted to create art in that way, people will know the song for 3 days until the next one comes along and you are left chasing that algorithm over and over again sacrificing art for views that don't really pay off in the end.
@ldre_tv9 ай бұрын
I feel you but also wasnt meaning for it to be taken too literally. Like that is just a known strategy. Like if you make unique music but evey now and then some says "sounds similar to x artist" marketing wise people can just use that similarity to their advantage. Noones music is 100% unique.

Question.. what is better, having a label taking down music because TikTok is not paying the license or instead the label doesn’t cares at all and you just don’t get money at all while at the same time tiktok rips your royalties… I don’t wanna protect umg here but I think it’s a two sided sword… or am I wrong? All of that sht sucks in the end so better no TikTok and no labels lol
@PuffinPass9 ай бұрын
The real question is how much of that cut is UMG taking off your work? They are rarely fighting for artists rights and instead fighting for their own profits as a company, they aren't your friend no matter what the A&R guy tries to gas you up with.
@ldre_tv9 ай бұрын
I second what PuffinPass is saying. While I agree that tiktok should be paying more (really everyone including Spotify should be) But I dont think UMG made this decision just for the artists like they claim because they already own the majority of the artists music. but who knows who knows
@johnviera38847 ай бұрын
like he said. he signed with a small label under UMG and the music didn’t go anywhere and is now muted. so why did you sign? psychological clout
@ldre_tv7 ай бұрын
Wasnt a small label it was actually the biggest classical label of all time lol It was a dope oppertunity got to work w full orchestras and do all types of cool stuff that I wouldnt have been able to do on my own. BUT it was just for 1 album so im a free bird still. Was a great deal
