Ghostbusters coaster makes more sense to me as it could go through the opening where RRR does now. F&F wouldn't match that area and I think people are over that franchise, it won't have the staying power of the classic movies despite how many they have made. We will see when the California ride opens how popular that franchise is or is not to the general public.

I'm a ride focused theme park goer and the og universal park badly needs a new big ticket ride. It's left in the dust by IOA, which got hagrid's and velocicoaster in the last few years, and the shiny new toy that is epic.

It would be nice to see a Ghostbusters dark ride, mixed with a coaster, or expand the Illumination theme for the new coaster, and build a new Illuminatiin dark ride. It'd be nice to see then do something completely unique, since something unique is being removed. They definitely need a coaster in place of Rip Ride no matter what.

I've heard that there's some good deals in the Tonight Show ride shop. It might be possible that they could absorb the whole Fallon space into the upcoming ride as well? Maybe even incorporate the old Blue Man Group soundstage? It'd give them a decent amount more room to work with - which is important given how narrow Rocket's general area is. Would definitely help the coaster "breathe" a bit more.

The Mummy segment for the Lagoon show better be based on the 1999 trilogy with Brendan Fraser and not the reboot from 2017 that bombed, and regarding Dreamworks I wonder what are chances of the Tales of Arcadia Franchise coming there in the distant future probably slim or it might not happen.

I will never ever understand the amount of hate Rip Ride Rockit received and does to this day. Sure there's probably 3-ish brakes too many, and the theming is just "oh well you know", but I still love it so freaking much. It's awesomely quiet from the outside; yet very fun and intense in all the right places, and the way they integrated most of the layout into the backlot is great. Universal and Maurer did all they could with the tiny and stretched property this coaster had at its disposal. I would be devastated to see the rumors of it going away confirmed. Have not ridden it since 2012 - what a shame!

Great report. Really pleased to hear that UO is adding entertainment and shows. At the same time, the suggestion that Universal may close yet another attraction at USF is disappointing. Regardless of what someone might think about 'Rip Ride Rock It', the park's selection of major attractions is beginning to dwindle. Because of this, Epic Universe could have as much of an impact on the market share of USF and IOA as it does on any of the Disney parks.

I can't wait for that parade, it sounds epic ( no pun intended). Though I was just thinking, the way Epic Universe is laid out, it seems like it'd be hard if not impossible to have a parade at all, especially since the zones are 'portaled'. I suppose they'll be relying on pop-up entertainment specific to each land entirely.

There are two parade buildings planned for Epic Universe. They will utilize the top two rings around the hub, from hotel to carousel and back as a big loop.

I think the rip rock replacement will be separate from fast and furious replacement. Stuidios lacks coasters especially intense one. Rip ride rockit will keep the theme, name and on board audio but track removed and replaced with mack extreme spinner. In addtion more family friendly intamin drift coaster themed to fast and furious will start in the current fast and furious building and go out into the laggon.

(Warning… long read only for true coaster enthusiasts) IOA should always be the bigger thrill ride park imo, Studios doesn’t need a huge launch coaster. But instead maybe a dynamic attractions coaster like the one recently built at Ferrari World. That would be a great way to level out crowds with Epic opening. Maybe even theme it to the Jaws ip using the space the old fear factor sits on. Would be a nice way to pay homage to the old Amity Island that Potter now occupies. They can do what they want with Rip Ride Rocket, I’m all for a new coaster, but I don’t necessarily think it’s a priority atm. Sure, extending a new coaster track over the front entrance and re shaping the area by the globe would be nice, but I’d much rather see a ride like Fast and Furious get reworked first. We are all also aware that Simpsons is now owned by Disney so working in some variation of Zelda or Nintendo ip in that existing area is also going to come quickly in time. So I strongly believe that Studios will regain its momentum.

Studios has so many addtions, replacements and rethemes planned next couple of years after epic opens its going to massive building sight. RRR, fallon, fast and furious, MIB, simpsons all rumored to close to be replaced with at least 2 coasters, secret life of pets and pokemon land with numerous rides. They may be better off just doing it all at once closing off the majority of the park, officially closing studios for a year and including access to the attractions still open in a tickets IOA.

It might be, but I feel like the re-introduction of Ghostbusters back into the park alongside these rumors about the Rip Ride Rockit closing could indicate that Universal is testing the staying power of the franchise. I think it's possible that the IP could go the long way around and eventually wind back up in its original sound stage where Jimmy Fallon is currently. Then the firehouse could re-open as the ride entrance. It's a pipe dream but we can still have it anyways.

They should repurpose Rip Ride Rocket by painting it Minions yellow and retheming for a rocket from Minions with minions land be right next to it. Then repurpose the Fast and Furious ride into a half indoor/ half outdoor intamin roller coaster (better modern version of Rocking Roller Coaster)

If HRRR is coming down, I really don’t see the point in putting yet another cramped coaster in the NY/Production Central area. Just put the coaster somewhere else with more room. Like so many here, Ghostbusters seems like the perfect choice for any ride to go in that area like a Slimer kiddy coaster and a dark ride even if you have to knock down a soundstage to build it. Or close Jimmy Fallon, seriously who would miss that?

Seems like it would be difficult to put the F&F hollywood ride in place of RRR. That coaster is so customized due to the hill it's on. It would basically be a completely different ride. Might as well make a different custom ride here too.

While Universal is now up to par with Disney in terms of theming and rides they still lag far behind Disney In terms of live shows and nighttime spectacles. So calling this an answer to Disney is I think too generous. Disney has nighttime shows in nearly, if not all of their parks.

News about all this new stuff is great, but man those new logos do not look professional at all. I wonder if a little part of Universal called BA had something to do with them looking like that, because, for example, the movie parade one, looks much better in its inital plan than then one showed now. DreamWorks makes a lot of crap for Netflix. So this is Netflix’s answer to Peppa Pig, or Bluey. So if you are a toddler who’s parents cut the cord and only let you watch Netflix, then you’ll love this. It also seems very easy to replace, which is good, because by the time they opened Barney, all those kids who loved it were now too old for it. KidZone seemed to have this sort of “too little too late” effect with kids. I loved American Tail, and it’s sequel, but by the time Feivel’s PlayPlace opened, I was far too old for it! The other DreamWorks properties however seem to be more timeless however. At least kids won’t be asking “Who’s Shrek?”

Just went for first time to see for myself. To say not impressed is an understatement. If you like all facades with shopping and food, way, way too many people crammed into small spaces, walking a miilion miles before you even get to entrance, waiting for an hour + for mobile order lunch with no seating. Oh ya, and without express pass for xtra 200.00 per day per person, never getting on a ride less than 2 hours, then que with express and still wait 1 hour? Nickel and dimed me to death. Hotels are noisy as heck, loud music everywhere. Nope . Disney for me all the time. Went to Polynesian next: aahhhhh. Relax. So much better at Disney.

Am I the only one upset about dreamworks land? How to train your dragon is my favorite movie ever and I’m happy it gets a separate land but seeing shrek and po in what’s pretty much a kids zone re-theme just irks me… you can keep trolls and the shitty Netflix shows but give shrek and kung fu panda the separate lands they deserve.
