When I was a baby I would wake up from my nap (or in the morning. Will have to ask mom) when I heard Jack Lalanne’s theme music and watch his show. 😂😂 and a friend got an autographed photo of him for me as a wedding gift. I got so many sympathy texts from friends when he passed.

This resort is so special to me! My dad passed in 2017 and he would’ve loved this resort... sadly, he never got to go... but all the music and the cars and decor was so his style! He was born in the 40’s so this was just so HIM. It’s so relaxing and almost makes the world feel like a simpler time

Sad that he never got a chance to see this place. Some people who lived through the 50s and 60s say it reminds them of the Atomic Age and the Swingin' 60s. I love the decor and the theming. I would stay here again if I could find time to go back to Universal.

I love the decor and the lazy river. You do NOT have to rent or buy a tube to use the lazy river. Also, the pool is always open. January is still considered winter for South Florida but the pool is heated! Only bad thing is being blasted by icy winds when stepping out of the pool!

Also if you can, try getting a room on the top floor of the Americana wing. At night, you get an awesome view of Volcano Bay. True, it's a long walk to the elevators but it also makes for a slightly quieter room at night and I think it's worth it. I stayed here in January. Although it was chilly, the pools are both heated as well as the lazy river.

We stayed at Cabana Bay two years ago and by far was our most memorable vacation in Central Florida. First time at a Universal Resort Hotel and will definitely be staying again. So much to do and Nikki is right the lobby is absolutely gorgeous. Love everything about this hotel.

If you do intend to stay, I suggest the Americana wing near the top floor. At night, you get an awesome view of Volcano Bay! It even "erupts" at night!

Staying here next may. The Volcano Bay view rooms were $1000 more for 10 nights compared to the standard room on the other side of the resort. I like the idea of a view of Volcano Bay, but not for $1000.

I got my Mother the cookbooks from Jack, he was here favorite. I remember her working out with him on TV when I was little. She was amazed when I show her pictures from there. They said his wife still comes and visits on occasions.

Cabana Bay Resort was the 1st Universal Resort we stayed at some years ago before we discovered our favorite spot Sapphire Falls 🌊🌊🌊 Cabana is a nice option especially for the price and if you like Bowling 🎳🤣

Had to click on this as soon as I saw it. Love Cabana Bay. Miss it so much. Has been our go to since it opened. Even if we're not doing the theme parks. Was there on opening day of Volcano Bay. Hope they worked the bugs out. Loved the theme-ing, but didn't get to ride most of the rides because they were all tapped out by 1:00. Looking forward to seeing that vlog. Love love love this resort!! The towers are so close to VB and the view is amazing, especially at night! The food court is great as well. We stay here for a couple nights for the water park and then move to the Hard Rock hotel to get the fast lane passes for IOA and Universal.

Thanks for the memories Rick. We stayed there when my daughter was younger and when Volcano Bay and the tower you stayed in was in the beginning phases of construction. We really did love that resort as well. That resort is VERY young kid friendly! But since my daughter is older now, we got spoiled by the free express pass given at the three luxury resorts. Doing the math, I found that along with our pass discount the cost of staying at a luxury resort cost about the same, or a little more depending on what luxury resort one chooses, than staying at the budget resort and purchasing separate express passes each day. We did find that by using the Express passes, we would only have to stay in the parks for a half day, till around noon or 1:00pm, and then have plenty of time to relax back at the hotel. After 1:00pm in central Florida during the summer, it gets far to hot to really enjoy the parks. This of course all happened the years prior to this pandemic when the crowds were huge and you found standard queue lines to be over a 1 hour wait. We are still looking forward to going to Volcano Bay. My guess is that now is the time to go since the capacity has been limited and one will not have to spend 1 to 2 hours hours waiting in queue lines to slide down a 1 minute slide. :) Please let us know if Universal has worked out all the bugs they had when they first opened in one of your future videos and the queue lines waits you had. Also, please let us know if guests staying at the resorts are guaranteed entry to Volcano Bay after park capacity has been reached. We were told by resort team members that park entry to IOA and US has guaranteed entry for those staying at the resorts after park capacity has been reached. Looking forward to your next video.

My wife and I loved the Cabana Bay resort when we visited in January before COVID-19. I really enjoyed the theming of the rooms and the amenities. We stayed in the cheaper rooms which didn't have the coffee makers or microwaves but I did find out you could get free coffee and access to microwaves in the dining area. I asked for spaghetti to go from the restaurant and they gave me such a large portion. I had to eat it over a couple of days. Same when I asked for a side of fries on another day. We had a great trip.

We're staying there September '23 for HHN - and as weird as it may sound, I hope the Cabana Bay scratch guard top is still available. It'll be a nice souvenir (will wear it after holiday out running, it gets cold here in the UK) and will be handy to stop me from burning. It's a great place my family loved the retro experience back in 2016. The nostalgia takes you back in time. I would also recommend Saphirefalls where a boat will take you directly to city walk. Both are great for the experience.

Hi Rick Nikki the resort is gorgeous! The Wife and I resort hopped over from Surfside to Cabana Bay on our last day in UO just to look around and were impressed. We chose Surfside because we never intended to spend any time in the resort on our first vacation to UO , the next time we go we intend to enjoy the resort more, so probly will go to Cabana Bay next time. We would only go to the premium resorts for the express passes if the park was at high capacity. Just as a trivia note : Dirty Dancing was set in 1963 and was released in 1987. We’ve done cabana bay and sapphire falls and between the two we liked cabana bay overall. The pool and pool service/food area at sapphire falls was really nice as well as the boat transport to the park. We loved cabana bays food court, 2 pools and the cool shops. The layout at sapphire falls was like everything was super far-away from the lobby. We also had a bit of an accident on the stairs in the whiskey cellar stair well. My mom ruptured her Achilles’ tendon 😬 and the distance to everything was difficult. The concierge though was amazing and super helpful.

My daughter and I stayed there last year and loved it. I was able to stay for free with my card points (from work, even better). We are coming back there this year in December. Last time we stayed pool side and the on the 12th floor the music was so loud until very late at night. So this time we are staying on the other side. LOL But we really loved everything there. You could walk to Universal, ride the bus or walk to Sapphire Falls and ride the boat. So many options and the food was really good also.

This is to be our 5th stay at Cabana bay. Not sure that's actually going to happen this year. The theming and the staff are just amazing. Usually start to the day is a trip to the Omelette station, freshly cooked in front of you, with a side of Bacon. Breakfast of theme park goers. It's lovely to walk into Volcano bay for a morning then hit the parks in the afternoon. Using the walk way, straight over the bridge to Sapphire falls and pick up the boat. Or even just walk to the parks, it only takes about 15 minutes. It's just a really good hotel to stay in.

CB is fun! I’ve only stayed once when airlines changed my flights and I had to arrive a day early! But I thought it was great. And the food court is the best! We’ve gone to eat even when we aren’t staying here. The room colour theme reminds me of the Howard Johnson’s! I know it’s about the theming but I wish they had other soap and shampoo!

We stayed at hard rock once and then tried Cabana for the money worth every penny! Instead of getting two rooms like at the hard rock we got the family suite at cabanas. We would always go across the street go through sapphire falls and take the boat to the park way better then the bus. And at night on the way back we would walk the path.

One of my favorite things about Cabana Bay is they have like really good biscuits and gravy in there food court. My least favorite thing is if you have a view with the volcano you have to walk so far to get to the lobby. When you have to go back and forth a bunch of times a day it's not worth it. But when you get on the bus for their transportation it's pretty quick to the park so that a plus.

Hi Jill I hope your trip goes wonderfully. I hope Rick dosent kill me, there is a good video by tim tracker for the Royal Pacific but its pre-corona tho. Its a kinda thing that the youtubers don't realy clearly explain Disney and Universal require that youtubers pay for their room in order to review it, if they are really lucky they get a complementary night stay on a rare occasion, other than that a " friend " can invite them to thier room. It can be very costly. KZbinrs are also very careful in their reporting on Disney/Universal properties to stay on their good list. Take care be safe and enjoy your vacation!

We stayed last month on Surfside Endless Summer and was great. Now we want to try out Cabana, love the 60's ambience , but I see in your video that the water slide pool is close, Im guessing is because of the COVID19, the same happens with Dockside at Endless Summer, that part of the resort is temporary closed. We stayed here last October. Really enjoyed it and the suite is almost a requirement for a family of 4. Only thing we didn’t like and that I didn’t realize until we got there was that staying there does not give you the free express passes. So we figure that the difference in price between there with having to buy express passes and one of the more expensive hotels that have the free express passes might be about even or depending on how many days you buy express passes the more expensive resorts could end up less.
