A ways before Native became a thing, I was absolutely enamored with the Unison preamps on the Apollo hardware. Started with a Duo Quad, then an x6 and then an Octo Sat. And then I figured out how-to wire the x6 into a passive gain-reducer, mixer, then into the Duo’s mic Pres (I was already using the two pres on the x6). Being able to route a computer output through a Unison pre and monitor/record is amazing for those analog characteristics to shine ever brightly. I hope/plead/beg that Unison support continues.

@@rickythethird @rickythethird Been meaning to get back to you. All I did was (with the Console app on Automatic/Default mode on the inputs and outputs with everything connected/turned-on), I set my computer audio to 19/20 on the x6. Then Line-out 5/6 > Mic 1/2 on the Twin. Balanced line all the way, including 1/4" - XLR. Set the monitor path in Console on 19/20 to Line-out 5/6 and turn-off Mirror to Monitor. Then engage 1/2 on the Twin as a Mic-input signal with the PAD on. Mute 19/20, fire-up your favorite UAD-2 Channel Strip and go to town. For DAW recording you can still use the Console app to monitor signal. Do not disengage the PAD on the Twin input path. Keep it on MIC with whatever Unison plugin you use. And don't engage both monitor paths (19/20 on the x6 + Mic 1/2 on the Twin) at the same time on playback. I switch 19/20's output of 5/6 Line back-into the Monitor path and just alternate back-and-forth with that simple switch when I want-to engage the additional Twin inputs. This is just one way I learned how-to do it. You can fit whatever you want into the signal chain for hardware between the interfaces, though I recommend keeping them balanced. I'm sure someone out there could figure an easier way, like JUST use the x6 by itself if they didn't need to actually mic-up their Unison inputs. Or use an AUX perhaps. I knew of a studio in LA used-to sell a custom-made patch cable that would wire-up 8 line-outs to a 2-channel XLR Unison input on the x8. Might've been Sunset Sound?? I can't find the video at the moment.

plz make some video on re amping sample libraries with uad preamps. I record with an apollo using a condensor mic. I ran that through 1073, was ok, there was noise though. I ran it through an actual analog 1072, much better results. What am i missing here, i don't own analog gear, somebody helped me. But i do own UAD plugs, how can we use them to achieve similar results of re amping raw signal. Since i am not using very high end mic pres.

(Fixed the video link, now it leads to a proper Wurly model) UA please grace us with a funky Wurly piano. And not a wimpy one like Scarbee. Bolder, more like this model here >> /watch?v=srxISsG1e7U ... Bit more bark, bit more weight to it. Five recorded sources would be great, namely 1) Direct line out 2) Left & right built-in native Wurly speakers (close mics), 3) Samples taken from "a player's position" (mid-far mics) for a more live, "in the room" presence feel, 4) Mics over keyboard and harp with the Wurly reeds to capture the mechanics, and ultimately 5) a guitar amp source like Fender Twin Reverb or similar. And the ability to blend and mix these sources to taste. Please tell the UA dev team, perhaps, they appreciate the idea. Thanks!

Hey @universalaudio where is the best resource to learn things like 7.5 IPS on the studer rolls off the highs while the 15 IPS setting gives a nice bass boost? And the 2500 is known for a clean master comp and fast release/slow attack is a good setting for that?

Hi Universal Audio, I see at the mix knob in the middle of the hitsville usa reverb 15 % , that should be 50 % graphic wise...
@UniversalAudio
@UniversalAudio 11 ай бұрын
No, we made it so that the majority of the "resolution" of the knob was higher up. So it's logarithmic as opposed to linear.

Would it be beneficial to make rap/hip hop sound analog?
@UniversalAudio
@UniversalAudio Жыл бұрын
In many cases, yes! It all depends on what kind of sound you're going for, but a lot of both modern and classic rap & hip hop records have a very analog sound to them.

Slowest attack setting? I had to back up the vid to absorb your reasoning. Like, when the bass alone sounds almost not right, the mid side chain is taking the stage. I've heard it said before but 'Cool, dude.'

It didn't sound any better with or without. 1) create better music. 2) don't overuse plugins cause of the sake of it, it doesn't always enhance anything 3) when you input sh1t, sh1t comes out anyway.
