See no evil. Hear no evil.
#SpeakNoEvilMovie only in theaters September 13.
-----
When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.
From Blumhouse, the producer of The Black Phone, Get Out and The Invisible Man, comes an intense suspense thriller for our modern age, starring BAFTA award-winner James McAvoy (Split, Glass) in a riveting performance as the charismatic, alpha-male estate owner whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness.
Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt and Catch Fire) and SAG award-winner Scoot McNairy (Argo, A Quiet Place Part II) as American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler; The Good Nurse, Riverdale), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi; Game of Thrones, The Fall) and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Daniel Hough).
Written for the screen and directed by James Watkins, the writer-director of Eden Lake and the award-winning gothic ghost story The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil is based on the screenplay of the 2022 Danish horror sensation Gæsterne, written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. That film earned 11 Danish Film Awards nominations, the Danish equivalent of the Oscars.
Speak No Evil is produced by Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN) for Blumhouse and by Paul Ritchie (McMafia, The Ipcress File) and is executive produced by Beatriz Sequeira for Blumhouse, Jacob Jarek and Christian Tafdrup.

This is absolutely wild on all levels. Why is there the need to remake the original? It was nearly flawless, AND it was mainly in English so I don't see the problem as far as language goes. And yeah, they manage to give away THE WHOLE PLOT in a 3 minute trailer, it makes watching the whole movie almost redundant. That being said, the trailer for the original movie also did that. Both trailers are almost a carbon copy.
@JT-lw1oh
@JT-lw1oh 5 ай бұрын
I’m almost positive they didn’t do a scene for scene recreation. But instead gave away the original most important scenes in the trailer. You can tell they added a bigger part for the boy. They most definitely cut out the middle easterner because…. You know why.. And they forsure changed the ending my guess is they escape w/ the boy and the insane killer couple somehow also escape, which cuts to a scene of them coxing another family in vacation.

Reality check is not for the generation that grew up watching these films and either you know there’s new generations, right you’re not the only generation around there’s new generations remakes for the newer generations, because there are people from this generation, I guarantee you would like to remake when they would like the original. How does some remakes I like more than the original, and the summer originals I like more than the remakes, but I’m not complaining about it, but again don’t say they say don’t neutered because not everybody that stop being so selfish say you don’t feel like you need it cause whatever don’t watch it nobody’s forcing you to watch it you guys act like he’s forcing you watch it don’t change anything we have in the originalbut just simply don’t watch it simple that

The original film was silly and dumb. They expect us to think they get away this this alot, when they do things like take the victims out to dinner down the road from their house and let the victims pay with their credit card? What was the point of keeping the kid around? what was the point of any of it? The mother was aggressive and angry when they were yelling at someone else's kid, but when her's in is danger, she's' suddenly weak and docile to the point where she lies down and just let's two unarmed people kill her by chucking a few stones?

What made the original so remarkable and impactful was how bleak everything was. How “non-cinematic” it was crafted and real it felt. By the looks of it, they’re going to give us another sanitised version of the original story, because they can’t handle tragic stories that stick with you long after the credits roll. Reminds me of the car crash that was the Martyrs remake. Anyway, James McAvoy looks fit so I guess we have that to look forward to 😂

I just saw this movie last night, and lucky I went into it 100% blind. My friends told me that it was a thriller, and it was called "Speak No Evil”. That's literally all I knew, I didn’t even see the poster beforehand. I loved it. As they were first pulling up to the house, I was thinking maybe this was an exorcism/demon/haunted house movie, because of the cross out front? Maybe there was some malevolent force that cut out Ant's tongue and was causing all the odd behavior. By nearly half way through, it was pretty obvious that Paddy was actually just a psycho, but the movie does a good job at flipping the script on the main characters every time it seems like they have every right to be offended - and when you yourself aren’t one HUNDRED percent sure that him being a serial killer is the main conflict, you really feel what the main characters are feeling. Even well after it seems SO obvious that he’s the main threat, he hasn’t done anything * outright * unforgivable - just awkward and off-putting (that is, until the dance scene). You don’t want to assume someone is a killer just for breaking social norms, despite how those red flags were * screaming * in your face the whole time. So when you finally see him take the mask off and go full serial killer with a gun to his wife’s head, it actually hit hard. Until just a few minutes earlier, I only had a strong gut feeling, but no * solid * proof. I looked up the movie poster after having watched it, and they REALLY shouldn’t have his face on it, in my opinion - not to say that McAvoy did a bad job, it was totally the opposite. What made Paddy so menacing to me was how long it took for it to be super 100% ABSOLUTELY clear that he was going to kill them, and how charmingly he gaslit the main characters into thinking they were okay up until that point. And no matter how obvious it became to me over the course of the film, I got to actually feel what that felt like. I’ll be recommending this movie to people, but to me this was the kind of movie that reeeeeally benefitted from a blind watch.

I don't get why this is being remade. The original was a Danish film, but the two couples in the story are Danish and Dutch respectively, with the result being that the couples speak to each other in English. Why remake an English language film for, presumedly, an English speaking British/American audience? Why not just release the original? Why would anyone go to see what I'm guessing will be another toothless PG13 Blumhouse horror movie when the original is readily available already? This is strange one.
