Film Synopsis:
They’re all here! Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Darla, Stymie, Porky, Petey the dog and all of the Little Rascals star in this hilarious heartwarming classic directed by Penelope Spheeris (Wayne’s World). Their new adventures begin at an emergency meeting of the “He-Man Womun Haters Club.” Alfalfa has fallen in love with Darla, threatening the very existence of their “boys only” club. Further trouble ensues when their clubhouse is destroyed and their prized go-cart “The Blur” is stolen by the neighborhood bullies. How can they win the big race and its prize trophy? Through mischief and mayhem, tricks and ingenuity, the rascals will learn the value of true friendship...and even an appreciation of girls!

The Little Rascals | The Big Race 2013pm 6.1.24 when i was a young lad (nostalgia time again) they used to air old hollywood reels on BBC2...along with east European animation etc etc... (circa 1978/80 onward) along with buster crabbe's flash gorden, a kid could be sure of seeing the little rascals (olde timey version) and the like of a morning or evening... all good fun. sadly re-hashing it aint gonna have me rush to the dvd store.... and sitting down to watch the little rascals now would be seen as somehow perverse if yer middle aged.... p.s i went to school with a guy who, if he wore a straw hat and round glasses, could have been taken for harold lloyd............ i mean, for sure - that's how you get the gals.

My Mom used to own this film on VHS, before we eventually upgraded to mostly DVD’s. And yeah, even this film reminds me of my childhood. I mean, sure the original film based on the original “Our Gang” shorts by Hal Roach debuted on TV around some 100 years ago, but the kids here still made a movie for a lot of us to remember.

As a 26 year old, I used to loveeee watching this as a kid in daycare. I felt like one of the little rascals 😂

My daycare had this play all the time to the point every kid wanted a car like in the movie. So the lady in charge decided to buy one of those mini cars for kids to drive around. It was locked away for awhile because although it’s only meant to hold one driver, six kids would hold onto the vehicle when it was moving and we injured ourselves too much to the point that the daycare was in danger of a possible lawsuit. But the parents would never sue because we were all manics at 5 years old and we all had this unreasonable desire to place ourselves in harms way for no reason except curiosity.

This cart racing scene was indeed iconic. I remember me, my cousin, and my neighbor (two of them) made cardboard boxes to become cart cars and pretended we racing it in our living room.

Fun facts on this scene: • When Reba introduces the go cart race and says "welcome to the 73rd annual go cart race" that was a nod to the original little rascals in 1921. In real life, McEntire's son Shelby Blackstock races professionally. • Blake Ewing who plays Waldo had a recurring role on their show Full House (1987) as Derrick, a friend of their character Michelle. •In a TV interview it was revealed by the cast that in reality the children playing Darla and Spanky were boyfriend and girlfriend. (I had a feeling) • 4:32 Waldo says, "Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed" during the go-kart race. This is what Burt Ward as Robin says when the Dynamic Duo leaves the bat cave in the 60's Batman television series.

I used to love watching this movie when I was 9 years old. This & The Flintstones were 2 of my favorites then & I would watch them on days when I was sick & had to stay home from school. I remember wondering if it was actually Waldo or Darla, who got out of the car & I kept thinking it was Darla, since the driver did help Alfalfa & Spanky with the stick of dynamite & we don't really see the eyes under the helmet (well, barely see them), but I remember other kids arguing that Waldo was still the driver & maybe they were right. I was 9 at the time.
