They choose the simple way of just rejecting the whole idea of God's existence cuz it's not possible to prove it. I cant thank you enough!! Im so glad that someone is actually addressing about the western scientific community who well live under the delusion of dogmatic"materialism". Actually i used to be a staunch atheist myself but after coming across jnana yoga i was so ashamed as i had considered the religion of my ancestors as nothing more than superstitious nonsense but as i researched more the great wisdom of our ancient rishis was thought provoking and simply amazing.Although i wouldn't consider myself as a complete "believer" but then again Hinduism itself says that god must be "realized" i hope maybe one day i can do that :P Anyways im really interested in more scientific perspectives on Vedanta :) And as always thank you for your effort,your doing us all a great service :)

It's an interesting and highly revealing video... In any type of discussion on Universe viz., creation, evolution or manifestation the presumption that there is somthing (consciousness or God) which is the ultimate cause that is not caused, is presumed. In other words the entire discussion revolves around a linear time span that is presumed to have a beginning. With my limited knowledge, vedanta upholds a cyclic (kala Chakra) rather than the western philosophical approach which tries to define an ultimate beginning. However modern metaphysical approach is now zeroing on a cyclic phenomenon (superseding the big bang theory) and is trying to establish the theory of expansion and contraction from black holes to the material universe and back again to black holes. Some of Adi Shankara's writings also suggest that similar to the seed becoming a tree which in turn produces seeds the universe also evolves around an Universal seed and back again to the seed form (one such cycle is known as one Kalpa) which appears to be closer to our present day metaphysical approach. If this cyclic phenomenon is accepted one cannot be sure whether consciousness was produced by the matter or the other way. +swamini swaprabhananda God particle is just a sub-atomic particle of matter - has nothing to do with vedanta or even consciousness, although its name is very misleading. Stephen Hawking's theory of the multiverse is on the other had very much in line with what Vedanta says. There is a great ancient Vedantic text called the Yoga Vasistha which beautifully describes how there are infinite Universes present in the infinite ocean of consciousness and one can think of them as bubbles suspended in water. There are Universes curled up inside Universes... A superb translation of the book has been done by Swami Venkatesananda. The question is why and how did God decide to manifest into universes and when did that happen? Does that imply God has a mind too so he made this decision to manifest as the universe and he's not just awareness or consciousness alone? If he has a mind, he can have a body too! He can actually be a person! What are your thoughts on this? Also you presented the hypothesis that God cannot be a person because otherwise how would he create the universe out of nothing but could not God be a person with infinite powers? How about that? God simply can't be just consciousness, he ought to be a person otherwise how could he decide to manifest as the universe? And why can't this personality of God be omnipresent as well since he's all powerful? I don't think the idea of God that you're talking can be that limited alone, God is definitely beyond our perceptions. He can be impersonal and personal both. This makes the most sense. You can't limit him to being consciousness alone. It would be interesting to see how you would refute this theory.

I could be wrong but this is my inner-standing. The nature of God or consciousness is to experience itself but to do that it must manifest the universe or multiverse within itself. In other words the universe or multiverse is basically a dream in God’s infinite, eternal mind aka universal consciousness. Btw this dream or vibration of consciousness is completely spontaneous just like the dreams that we have when we go to sleep.

I took LSD for the first time and had some kind of enlightenment and I was feeling I was talking to God and everything made sense to me, this same philosophy came to me and I understood everything. It’s amazing how I could reach that and see the truth itself, what I was shown back then is this same philosophy! How could I make sense of something that I never knew or read about? Did I actually find God? Got enlightened? It seems like! I feel blessed since then, not everyone can understand this complicated reality as I did.

This was a brilliant presentation that explained a lot with a very few slides! Thanks for this :) One question though- how can one be sure that the Vedanta view is correct? How is it even possible to talk so affirmatively about something beyond space and time, when we have no means to access anything beyond space-time? Also, further musing about consciousness here- people often go senile in their old age- so can't it be said that since their consciousness (both chit and shakti) have weakened, that this is an evidence of it being tied to the body directly and changing with physical changes?

Just as science holds a theory true only when it is verified by experience and by repeated observation, similarly the truths of Vedanta can be verified by experience. For this one has to develop spiritually (i.e. develop the ability to study one's own consciousness by learning to separate it from its identification with the mind and body). This is done through Yoga. Yoga is the study of one's own consciousness. Now the truths of Vedanta have been repeatedly verified across our history by numerous sages, who have experienced the same realities noted down in the Upanishads. Thus when Swami Vivekananda spoke, he was not regurgitating textual information from the Gita or the Upanishads, but he spoke from actual experience, which matched what was written in the Upanishads. The only way to go beyond space and time is to become conscious of our soul, to overcome the subject object split that arises due to the presence of the mind. When we "experience" our soul as an independent entity, free from mind brain and body, we have risen above space and time. When people go senile the instrument which expresses the consciousness has gone bad. The brain is an instrument. That has malfunctioned. Then our expressed consciousness (i.e. consciousness conditioned by the mind and body) appears diminished. But the soul behind it remains unaffected. If we were aware of our soul, like Swami Vivekananda was, if we were free from identification with mind and body, this senility of the instrument would not hamper or hinder us. But since we are not "free", since our consciousness is so tied to the body we experience that we have lost control of some bit of ourself. pulkit

+The Spiritual Bee Western Scientists are trying to break down matter as well and have found out many things such as Dark Matter,Dark Energy(Though only theoretical) etc and have nearly got to a stage of formation of universe when it was just the beginning that is around 10^-20 or even less seconds only before that is the time that we don't know about because the laws of Gravitation,Electromagnetism,Weak and Strong nuclear forces were actually not separate but all the same ie before this infinitesimally small time this things and time as well didn't make sense.... This 4 forces were all but the same but at least the western scientists are trying to combine all this 4 forces into one so that they can come to know about what happened in that very very small infinitesimal time as well...... They have already combined Electromagnetism and are on the verge of combining Strong forces with Electromagnetism as well so ie 4 out of 3 most probably will be combined together in just the near future,most probably in the distant future we might combine all of the 4 forces dependence and combine them into one formulae ie TOE(Theory of Everything as it is known ie one formulae can describe everything in the universe)when we do this the scientist would most probably finally have an idea of the existence and the start of universe from it's exact start...That means they will also explain everything about matter[Right now they have brilliantly explained about how big bang must have happened including everything from matter to antimatter(for 1001 matter their was one antimatter)etc but how matter was formed remains to be explained and how later the universe expanded etc etc] So my question is how can you prove that the consciousness came into existence in the first place.....Cause the western scientists can actually come close to proving that matter might have been the first thing to have existed(though it has a long way to go)..... How does Vedanta account for that?????

+The Spiritual Bee Also the point of we being Robots as per Scientific community is a big lol cause even Scientific community recognizes consciousness just in a different way then Vedantas so if scientific communities does makes us thing of ourselves as Robots and Vedantas doesn't then it would be self contradictory in some way or the other.... We think which ain't governed by universal laws and hence we ain't robots as Rene Descartes put forward i think therefore i exist("I think therefor i am" the real quote) Also Scientist have also not bought into saying that their is no life after death,in fact recent research on 2000 people who came out alive after having cardiac arrests showed that 40% of them had some different experiences of they themselves leaving their bodies(which you have described in your videos as subtle body) after being questioned by the researchers(docs) and finding the time slowing up or getting faster According to Science the heart beat stops that means that brain should stop functioning in 20-30 secs but the persons who were brought back to life actually could describe the situation of what happened in the room with some precision so that must be some proof of life after death..... So maybe yeah Vedantas and Science might go hand in hand someday :p But those were just some of the questions and contradictory views that i was having in my mind regarding what you have said in some of your videos...
