Graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1986. Oh my, can't believe how much this place has grown! Freshman year, I was stuck in Reid Hall on the 8th floor without AC. One of the first pics shows Reid. Now there's a huge residential complex next to it. This area used to be the tennis courts I played on many days in the humid weather. Walking to my classes was a long haul from Reid Hall. I recall taking history in Peabody Hall, but couldn't find it in these videos. Had to walk from the HYPER building up a step hill to Kimpel Hall for speech class. One things about this campus, if you're not in great shape, you better get into shape fast! Have so many fond memories of this place. The student enrollment when I attended was 16k. I'm sure it's much bigger now. I haven't been back since, but am hoping to return later this Fall if possible just to see everything. I want to find my name on the senior walk if possible. My husband and I live in Omaha but are really thinking about moving here to enjoy our lives once our kids who just graduated are on their own. Fayetteville is one of a kind! Just wish my favorite pizza place, King Pizza, still existed!

I graduated in 1985 and like you I lived in Reid Hall as well! As a Freshman I was on 3rd floor. Reid is no longer co-ed...100% female students now. Lived in Reid until Senior year when I moved into Pomfret Hall, which is right next to the HYPER building. You are right; hauling myself up that hill multiple times a day to go to classes in the Engineering building gets you into shape real fast!

@@GuardianAdLitemVolunteer Betting Reid is now fully AC. It sure looks much nicer inside than when I was there in the mid '80's. I actually got to check out some of the campus just a few months ago as we drove through Fayetteville on our way to Pensacola, FL, where we now live. The stadium was so much nicer than I recall and all the new buildings on campus; made it hard to find some of the older buildings I had classes. It was a beautiful day when we walked through the campus and the leaves were changing colors. The campus will always be gorgeous. Although I work out and am in decent shape for my age, Good Lord, I must have been in great shape back in the day! Good thing I played numerous sports in HS that gave me a strong cardiovascular system because this is not the easiest campus to canvass. One of my son's, who graduated in 2020, wishes he could attend the U of A. That would be awesome but his life is taking him a different path. Thanks for replying. Take care!

I want to be one of your students because I was inspired by one of your notable alumni, featured in a movie, Brandon Burlsworth. I also have a few friends that have Arkansas as their home state and plan to go there. It looks very fun, but I cried when the GPA requirements slapped me in the face. I'm in 7th grade and I just realized how much more I should be doing if I want to go to a school of this class.

you have time! colleges only look at your high school record, meaning that once you start 9th grade is when it really matters. if you can figure out a system or find a learning style that works for you to keep your grades up by then, you can definitely do it.

Ted, Talk with your family & school counselor . Let your goals be known so whatever support they can provide , you will have it . Our GPA requirement is a common level of most higher institutions . Good luck !

Thanks! We need some brave compassionate and stern social workers out in the usa. And know that social workers dont recognize angels. Evidence is cocoon, tadpole, oxygen..... Its hard on patients because of strangers. Ex drug addicted, bullies.... Recent problems with high $ rent and vehicles causing psychotic problems. And hate groups comfort. Youth and everyone need to recognize to snap out mental issues or euphoria; music and emotions. When its needed. Music and thinking can heal. But a rude nurse or social worker hurts. Talking can give someone more information. Thanks. USA!USA! Pray outside!! Col 3:11.

Had to get a few extra heavey items for a student. Parking staff closing in 5 min wouldn't let us drop stuff off in the lot by the room and get a cart. Instead had to bring refrigerator and room stuff to the 5th floor parking garage. It was so hot in the parking garage and it was packed full. Everyone helping got sick and almost had heat stroke from the Garland parking garage. They need a better system. It could have taken ten minutes intead it took hours and people got heat sick really bad. Bad first impression.

The fuckers locked me out of my dorm room THREE separate times due to their own stupid mistake every time! They kept misapplying my scholarship funds to the account of another student with the same name, and so the housing fees weren't getting paid unbeknownst to me. Instead of slipping a notice under my door or something letting me know, of course being the morons they are they just changed the locks. They tried to charge me $150 each time they locked me out for the locksmith fee as well. Of course I appealed and won a refund every time it happened but I made a vow at the time, (1983) to NEVER give a penny to those idiots as an alumni. So far nearly 40 damn years later I have kept my vow. Every time someone calls doing a fundraiser for the school I tell them to shove it up their asses.
