Leeds has an appealing campus that feels safe and quite homely. The campus is located in a perfect position between the vibrant and pretty upmarket city centre 10 minutes walk to the south and the leafy streets and red brick Victorian houses to the north side, located around beautiful Woodhouse Moor, Hyde Park and Headingley where many students live. It is a lovely place to be a student.

Sorry, I just could not agree that Leeds is a lovely place to be a student. During Covid, I stated my bachelor's degree at the University of Leeds. My roommate would make loud noises in the middle of the night, the warden at Charles Morris Adam Richardson paid it no mind, even when she started acting violently towards me after my complaint (giving me dirty, provocative looks, kicking my door). Adam Richardson had seen video evidence of the escalation of relations (eg. of her slamming doors after the complaint, deteriorating between Oct - Dec), he sided with her and was so patronizing, he told me I should get along with my classmates. This went on from Oct to Mar when he moved her, upon her request, he had refused to take action regards the numerous emails I have sent him between Oct to Dec. He moved her to another room on the same floor without informing me. She came back with her boyfriend after moving out and kicked my door open leaving me having to fend them off whilst desperately trying to close the door.

Graduated from Leeds in 1972 (yes, nearly 50 years ago!!). I spent much of my time in the chemistry dept, at the right hand end of the Parkinson Building. I visited and did a tour a couple of years ago. The campus has expanded tremendously and the inside of the Union building was unrecognisable. But the chemistry building hadn't changed at all - I'll swear it's even the same paint on the walls! It's a great university.

Daughter went to Leeds University 2016-2019 and loved it. She spent much of her time in the Laidlaw Library. The university and Leeds in general has a very nice feel to it. She felt very much at home there. Loved visiting her and still visit Leeds when we get the chance even though she has graduated.

To answer your question that you didn't really ask ;)... I think there's three Caffe Neros on campus - Laidlaw, Business School, and Cityside! I could be forgetting though as study abroad and lockdown means I haven't really been on campus in two years

@@pallasminerva1776 for me it was great, I loved everything!! Try to get accommodation in the campus or as close as you can. Also, don’t pick too many classes that are difficult. Focus on living the experience. If you’re not from Europe it’s a great opportunity to travel to other countries too. Or travel around the UK which is beautiful. Think more about your schedule. I filled my schedule with too many classes and I was really stressed and regret not enjoying the experience more. If you can, leave mondays or fridays off so you can travel during the weekend. Just remember this is a great opportunity to be there, not just to study. Also, depending where you come from you may not be used to their weather. I saw snow for the first time in my life there and it was amazing. But I also suffered the effect of the sun going down around 4pm. That was weird and had a negative effect on my mood. Just remember to enjoy as much as you can, meet people, travel and have fun! The campus is amazing, but we don’t have that in my country so maybe it’s normal for you 🤷🏼‍♀️ have fun!

Totally different as compared to campus in the 1970s.It looks neat but it's more soothing in the 70s.Especially the student union.It was crowded then but warmth all around.And the department of fuel and combustion science, where I did my master degree,has vanished.

I am at the end of Year 12, I think of my 5 options leeds has jumped to 2nd. 1st is Uni of Sheffield just because I'm a Sheffielder born and bred, I roughly know the campus already etc. But Leeds looks really good especially the 2nd Library you showed and the indoor cafe area!

There are 27,000 universities in the world. This year Leeds University is ranked at 86 the QS international tables which brings it within the top one third of one percent of world universities.. It is of course a Russell group university. The top 100 employers in the UK (ie The High Flyers' report which is viewable online) ) publish an annual ranking of the 20 universities whose graduates they favour most. Pretty sure the Roger Stevens building is Grade II* listed 😂 definitely a different vibe but it’s designed by the same architecture practice who did the Barbican estate which is cool imo

Well that brought back some memorie, in the late sixties aged about 10, my siblings and I would take detours-nosey around-long cuts on our way to school, one day we decided to investigate a new route. We were near one of those ponds you mentioned, when suddenly we heard a very familer voice shouting at us, it was dad, he was laying the paving stones with a group of other workers. Boy did we get a roasting that night! Mind you it did not stop us investigating, we just checked out where dad was working first.

The pandemic has ruined the 1st year experience, i haven't had on campus sessions since December. Hopefully we will get to go onto campus for our sessions this year

@@zaaramz1 I found it interesting as a subject, very theory based with some statistics based maths. (1st year experience). Personally it didn't do it for me as i am a very heavy maths guy but if you are a analytical person who likes the more stats side of maths it a very good subject to do. It is very competitive but also needed a lot and the better university you can get into the better. I personally have decided to change into a maths degree as it just fits me better, but Accounting and Finance type degrees are very good in general. Just make sure to explore all your options and puck what you would enjoy most. Ps. Sorry with the late reply, been busy recently 😅.

@@tobybromfield3664 CP do have people from a variety of countries and always have the parties in the weekends inside the room though. Maybe it does not host a large party outside for all residents. As for the internet, I think it is good enough for me to watch some football match live and KZbin videos. But it does have connection issue SOMETIMES and it would be repaired ASAP. Hope that would help u!

The only thing is that I don't want to be stuck on a floor where people don't mix, or they speak to each other just in their shared languages. But are the facilities good? Also, getting to Leeds uni and to town, is it easy from CP?

@@tobybromfield3664 I think the percentage of English-spoken or European residents is relatively above the average (or maybe higher), compared with other accommodations. I could name the highest ratio one which would be IQ Marsden, just locating at the opposite of CP and BR. The distance from burley road where both CP and BR are located in to uni or city centre probably takes u 15~25 mins walking. The facilities here are sufficient and could meet ur probably all demands but I would say it gives me a feeling of old American style you know, not mentioning things old but the atmosphere indeed.
