University of Northern Iowa - Cedar Falls | Campus Walking Tour

The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) is a public university in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The University of Northern Iowa was founded as a result of two influential forces of the nineteenth century. First, Iowa wanted to care for orphans of its Civil War veterans, and secondly, Iowa needed a public teacher training institution. In 1876, when Iowa no longer needed an orphan home, legislators Edward G. Miller and H. C. Hemenway started the Iowa State Normal School. In 1967, the name of the school was changed to the University of Northern Iowa.

My husband and I are seriously considering retiring to Cedar Falls in a few years. Thank you for this walk. It's a lovely campus and from what I've seen so far, a lovely town!

Now that our Republican Governor no longer supports our three state colleges, UNI's tuiion has raised to approximately $900,000 a year. Our Republican Governor also offers no financial support for students at those colleges.
