My 2nd horse was a Morgan. He was an outstanding animal. Smart, versatile, would do anything asked of him.

When I was 12 my dad bought me a paint black and white Morgan. I loved him and he was my best friend. We use to lay in the field with his head in my lap. When he was three I just got on his back no saddle no training. We went all over and he looked after me. I am 65 now and still miss him. He died very young of an aneurysm. I was 16 and it broke my heart.

Grew up with Morgan horses on a tobacco farm in southern Maryland. Good memories.

I like the look of the 'old style Morgans'; not the ones who have been refined to the point that they look like a completely different breed.

Not refined, infused with Saddlebred and Hackney blood...thanks to greedy show owners and trainers.

I agree, it is getting more and more difficult to find the old style Morgans. I am so happy I found one.

That applies to all breeds. Keep the original bloodlines & characteristics.

I love all horses and have rode both Morgan and Arab breeds, including one most of all that was a half Arab/Morgan cross, which I loved the most. I just wish I could have had this half Arab/Morgan cross as my own, before he died during a harsh winters in the mountains. We connected and he helped me become a better rider because of his sense of life and his training. I used very little leg pressure, but he knew what I wanted of him the whole time I was on his back. His name was Tony, he had a rocking chair type lope, and he was one of the best horses I had ever ridden in my lifetime. I still miss him sorely, I loved him very much ….RIP Tony, may you ever run free in God’s heaven …. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸🐎

Clarification please. I have just watched a video about ARMY CAVALRY MOUNTS. They were bred sepwrarely using various breeds. But it resulted in something the video referred to as THE GOVERNMENT MORGAN, which although similar in appearance, was clearly not pure Morgan. So my question is:- Are there now 2 seperate BREEDS? One being PURE Morgan? The other being the GOVERNMENT CROSS BRED MORGAN? Are there 2 seperate STUD BOOKS? This obviously leads to confusion.

Please let Morgans stay Morgans!! They are not Ara or Saddlebred, they are themselves and need the old school look and sensibility...
