I needed this so bad. I have really high predicted grades and have felt like I should be revising all the time. I also feel really guilty whenever I’m not revising, but now I’m trying to condition myself to believe I really need those breaks and some down time because otherwise I will burn out. I’ve been feeling low, but I’m really working on my mental health at the moment. ❤️❤️

Try the app Forest, I used it in college and did 30-45 minute blocks of work with a 5-10 break in between. It helped keep me on track but also realise when I had done an excessive amount of work. You use it to keep you from using your phone (or computer) during tasks, but it will show you a week view of how much work you have done. I made sure to limit myself to 6 to 8 hours a day (but everyone is different) I did it all a my college and none at home (until the revision period) and it mean't that I could relax at home and have a balance. It may seem like the most important thing right now but it's important to breathe and have some personal time when you can. Good luck from a 2nd year chemistry student! PS: if you need any help with chemistry GCSE or A-levels then message me on instagram @poppygrxce

This came at the best time for me, I had an anxiety attack today at school... I couldn't understand at all what we were doing in chemistry, and after I asked and asked and asked again, my teacher just explained it the same way, but louder. I knew I was having an anxiety attack, I was having trouble breathing, but I also knew I just couldn't not pay attention to it... And that did not help😣
@silvia84656 жыл бұрын
I didn't know how to react. I don't have (diagnosed) anxiety, and this had only happened to me once, and in a totally different situation

This video came at the perfect time - this Easter holidays I’ve been feeling so low but it’s lovely to hear someone who’s been through exams (I am year 11) already tell me that it’s ok to take a break and look after yourself! Also blurting has become my main revision as it’s so effective once the bulk of it has been done, so thank you for sharing that even though it was a while ago:) sending love and positivity to you both and luck for your exams ✨xxx

I totally agree with this ( 18:40 ) keeping a healthy diet has been so difficult for me, eating whatever I see lying around in the kitchen is like a coping mechanism for me. Over the past couple of months I've put on about 4-5kg of weight since I've stopped going to the gym and have had awfully blemished skin as a result. Now I'm just trying to focus on eating three meals per day with limited snacking and drinking plenty of water (this has worked for me so far :)) Thank you for this guys, I love how you're both raising awareness of these issues xxx

That's a really great and important video. In my mocks in February I definitely had a short depressive period because of my anxiety over my exams, especially chemistry. I thankfully got out of it after the exam; It was just unlucky circumstances I guess because of hormonal imbalances, as well. Everyone around me did not help either: My parents did not know how to help me, teachers really made it worse (one of my main teachers even told me: "I do not know how your parents cope with your bad mood. It is annoying". And everything that was different was that I just didn't laugh as much, I definitely wasn't rude or anything at all) and my friends were stressed out themselves. KZbin videos explaining depressive periods etc. really helped me because acknowledging that something is wrong is a key step in getting better. Also: I can highly recommend reading either fantasy or classic literature as a quick fix because being in a different world with completely different problems- far away from your own ones- helped me cheer up temporarily and gave me a break. Of cause you should not ignore your feelings but sometimes some distraction is helpful. Is is so, so important to raise awareness for mental health and exam stress, guys. It is something that can't be mentioned often enough! Anyways, today I wrote my final (Abitur) in Chemistry and it actually went quite well. Now I can write my last 3 exams way more relaxed and spend the next week revising properly. Thank you for talking about this, Jade♡♡

i'm really worried about exams as recently i just haven't been able to sit still in class and i actually can't focus, making me need to leave the room due to worry. So sitting in an exam hall for 2 hours does not sound ideal at the moment. My attendance is really suffering as i've been missing out lessons because of this internal panic. But hopefully it will get better, positive thinking! thank you for everything Jade, honestly, videos like this always inspire me to have a positive outlook on situations and try to resolve them.

This is such a great video! I've been feeling this so much recently, and I can especially relate to the one about teachers putting pressure on you. I'm in year 13 too and my English teachers keep messing me around like this - one minute pushing me for an A (which they have predicted me), and then a minute later, later saying I seem demotivated - when all i'm doing is trying to balance and focus my time on other subjects. It can be really hard, and not all places are great at looking out for your health in general and giving you the support you need, so thank you for this :) xx

Thank you both for addressing this! I'm that student who is predicted super high grades (except in maths... 😔), and I'm a huge perfectionist, so I put pressure on myself to succeed. Especially now I know that I really want to do English at Oxford, I need 666 at HL (a 6 is the second-top mark in the IB), so I put myself under pressure to achieve. It's nice to be reminded that there's more to life than grades! ;)

Having already gone all the way through school, college and uni, I look back and wish that students were graded based on a year's worth of coursework, rather than one day in a final exam. I know some subjects are more coursework-based than others, but all subjects end in some kind of exam as well. I think it puts so much pressure and worry on students, when there can be lots of factors which could affect your performance on the one day it matters, but for which you cannot get special consideration. It would be so much more balanced and manageable to be graded throughout the year! Exams are basically a giant memory test, rather than a showcase of skill. (Luckily, I did pretty well at GCSE and A-level; I just retrospectively think it's a silly system!)

I love this video, mental health is so important, especially during exam season. Today I wrote my first abitur exam (similar to English A-Levels, just in Germany) and I was surprised by how chilled I was before and during the exam eventhough chemistry was the subject I feared most. With this positive mindest I'm so positive about the upcoming four exams 💪 Btw, there is a sort of clicking background noise in this video, is this the autofocus? I have 2 friends and one never revises and doesn’t care and the other one always gets so stressed and they both stress me out as I want to do well but I don’t want to get their stress added to mine- if that makes sense. Also now I do biology maths physics a-level but my English gcse teacher always said how I would only get a C or a B as I ‘was only going to scrape a pass’ but I worked so hard every single night and I got an A* and I’m so proud of myself!! I also panic a lot in some exams (mainly maths) and I always drop so many marks due to silly mistakes when I could actually get two grades higher if I stayed calm :)

They don’t even know what pureocd and derealisation is themselves so I had to live with it and find ways to deal with it myself. So I went a whole year and a half with severe cases of both and I cried almost everyday... I’m recovering well now. People have no idea how much of a nightmare pureocd and derealisationcan be...
