You should do what feels best for you, whatever that may be! We can all get inspired by seeing what other people do in these times, but what works for someone else to feel better doesn’t have to be the exact activity that will make you feel better at this moment. If you want to watch Netflix the whole day or do a 5 k every day or everything in between, that’s totally ok! 🌸❤️ I myself am in this ‘everything in between area’ of doing nothing today and tomorrow but then run a 5 k for 3 days straight. For me it’s all about balance! 🙏🏼 Have a lovely evening!

Yes! Sadly, they're changing the curriculum in grammar schools so as to give mathematics and natural sciences more lesson time, and (myself included) not all students always appreciate learning about, say, the intricacies of French grammar.I still hope that the idiosyncratic linguistic set-up in Switzerland won't disappear altogether, it's kind of cool that things like food labels, our government's website etc. are all in various languages.

Fun fact: Your mama has got a very English accent when she talks Dutch but also still has got that Fries dialect going on. Your next challenge should be the Fries language if you want a real challenge. :')
@Jacco04 жыл бұрын
Fries is actually closer to English and therefor easier to learn for native English speakers. It's actually one of the easiest languages to learn for them! (You can fact check this, it's true)

KZbin's algorithm brought me here, but as a Dutch person, i really like your challenge! It was fun to see you and your mom interacting and I feel you learned the language rather quick. It sounds good! Also, Esmee's switch between her Dutch accent and her British pronunciation are WORLDS apart. Props to her for that.

Aah you sound so great! Don't worry about making mistakes, you sound better than a lot of non-native people who have already been living in the Netherlands for a few years (no shade implied). Any Dutch person will be astonished at how well you already know the language! Tbh no one ever really goes the extra mile to become fluent in Dutch, so we dutchies really appreciate it when someone is trying to learn the language. Even if someone makes the tiniest effort to learn a few words it's already a huge compliment to us! So don't be embarrassed about mistakes, you're doing great and it's part of the process! ^-^

Dual nationality kid who wasn't raised bilingual here! I'm from a Dutch/French family but wasn't taught any French growing up. I'm really impressed that you managed to learn Dutch so well in such a short amount of time! I only started learning French when I was 19 and now, 12 years on, I've gained a very decent level of fluency. So you got this! Goed gedaan :)

We’re a trilingual family: English, Dutch and Norwegian, living in Norway. My kids speak Dutch exactly like you! So funny to hear the similarity😊 So even though you say you weren’t brought up bilingual your level is pretty good! Our kids speak Norwegian amongst themselves, English with me and Norwegian/Dutch with their dad. We wanted the kids to be able to talk with their oma. I grew up bilingual myself (English, Dutch) and realised very early on how practical that was. Good luck!
