Notes 1. **Set up your systems** Habits can give you good results without effort “Task dump”; write down everything you need to do, either those things that you are really going to accomplish and those you are not. This sets your mind free from worries. You can chain a new habit onto an existing one. Combine your new habit with something already in your routine and it’s more likely to stick. Journal, Notion, to-do lists... 2. **Practice revision methods now** If you don’t know how to revise, this is the perfect time to learn how to do it. Try things now while the stakes are low. - *Flashcards* The process of creating the flashcards forces you to understand your notes first - *Blurting* Take out a topic that you are learning and blurt out everything you remember about it; drag out as much as you can from memory and put it on paper. After you’ve done it, check out with your notes what you remembered correctly and what you missed. It’s a very active process. - *Try teaching someone* Explain it to someone who has no previous knowledge of the subject. It forces you to break it down into bite-sized chunks. 3. **Create your study resources** Create *now* what Future You is going to study from. For example, make your flashcards *as you go.* 4. **Understand the basics of the science of learning** - *The more active, the better.* Teach yourself active revision techniques & get in the habit of using them. - *The forgetting curve.* You can reset your memory by going over the same information at regular intervals. Spaced repetition. 5. **Create the right mindset** *Write down now: What motivates you & why?* You can create a vision board or daily affirmations.

What motivates me to study: My whole life I have been told that I have so much potential. Then I was diagnosed with ASD and people started saying that I'll never achieve anything and that I'm limited. I want to prove to myself that I am capable, and that if I change my approach, I can reach my potential! I just have to use different approaches than most, and be more careful about burnout. I've also always been very scared of the idea of wasting my life and my youth, so I have motivation from that haha Just wanted to say thank you, Jade! I've been at some terrible schools and went into my A-levels having no revision skills and having taken no tests exams since year 8. Thanks to your videos and your book, I have become quite good at revising! I think it helped to not have any revision skills, good or bad, because I didn't have to unlearn any bad habits. I was a blank slate, and now I feel like my future has opened up again!
@roanoak71172 жыл бұрын
I wish you luck in all that you do, I’m from the states so I don’t know what A-levels are but they sound important so I hope you do/did crush them! Continuing education with ASD, ADHD, any neurodiversity is difficult especially if you don’t have supportive people in your life. Also remember there is no such thing as wasted time, even time not spent pursuing a goal is time spent pursuing something else. As someone who dropped out of college once and now is almost finished with my degree, that is the most important thing you can learn. No time spent is wasted time.

What motivates me is: 1. Doing something I’ve never done before (achieving an A) and proving to myself that I can do it, and becoming proud of myself. 2. Making my family happy and proud 3. Making the graduation project easy on me, because it depends on how well I know the materials I’m studying currently. 4. Being good in my future job, because no one will teach me when I get employed. Quite the opposite they will expect me to know things already. 5. Depending on myself financially and feeling powerful. 6. Gaining a straight A from my friends experiences will open up more chances to find a better job and good opportunities very fast. For example, the employees in your uni will know you and you might get a job in your uni or get a job recommendation from one of them. 7. Reprogramming my subconscious mind to do the things that I don’t feel like doing. And not be dragged by my emotions every time. That way I’ll be more productive. 8. I want to gain new skills in the field I’m learning. It’s always good to have more skills. that will benefit you one day.

The school year started real strong, and now the sudden change of weather and more stressful school environment because its midterm season is making me sad and anxious. I really am questioning why i'm here. I feel lonely, homesick, and uncapable. Thank you for your video, Jade. I really want to incorporate these habits and it's super inspiring to see that you learned all of this because of your own passion for education and becoming a better you and student. What is currently motivating me to study is the fact that it will pay off in the future and equip me with the knowledge of the world so that I can do what I want to do. It's really hard in times like this, but trying is what matters. I just need to show up to a study location and not let the anxiety of work get the best of me. What is really preventing me right now is the overwhelming amount of work i need to catch up on. But it gets better by doing, so that's what i'm gonna do.

I've loved learning all my life - as a child, then as a middle schooler and somewhere up till 9th grade. The structured and rote type of learning that we all have to comply with in class 10 and 12 sort of muddled this love for learning. I study for the sake of others... I mean that in the most positive way possible. I struggled a lot, finding a "why" that actually pushed me to try my absolute best. I found that the "why"s I had before were all for selfish gain, which resulted in depression and procrastination. I later found that my passion was actually making people happy and taking care of them. Once I found this amazing principle "living for the sake of others," it pushed me to study harder than I've ever studied before, effortlessly. Studying became fun because I was able to apply what I've learned to help others. I find that I naturally push myself harder when others are involved or at risk. I genuinely love to learn how to love and help all. If you take that away from me, life just isn't worth living. And yes, I do take great care of myself (physically and mentally) so that I can take great care of others. If I am not 100%, I can't give 100%.

What motivates me to to study is the eureka moment when I finally understand something; to have something all make sense and come together is the most satisfying thing, and that's what i hope to achieve everytime i learn something new.

This is hands down the most motivating, encourgaing video that has helped me not feel overwhelmed with how much stuff i have to do. What motivates me to study is my long term goals, seeing how if i do well on this assignment, it'll help me towards gettinf a good grade overall with my degree im currently studying, which will help me get a good job and have enough money so i wont ever have to live in poverty with no hot water or heating, not enough medical care or food ever again x

what inspires me is the feeling of being able to understand and talk intelligently about my subjects of interest but also just different areas of lots of subjects. an insecurity of mine in the past was always that i didn’t feel intelligent or worthy enough for what people were saying about me, that i was smart, etc. i know now that i am worthy because i work relatively hard and have a goal in mind. i am especially motivated by my offer from Oxford Uni, and am now really working hard to ensure my place there. good luck to everyone in the coming exam period!!

I think my motivation for studying right now is definitely the fact that I’m in my junior year of high school, I also want to be able to discuss what I’ve learned in class with other students, ik comparing yourself to people is bad but I guess in a way I want to be more productive in class (like some of them) and learn to work with others more than I do. I also want to get back into the mindset of “hey I’m learning and I can do this now” because I feel like sometimes I do things because I have to, even though I do, that’s not the only reason; I want to and it’ll help me in the future with what I have to do then, I also want to learn to feel proud of myself for trying to study so I’ll keep wanting to because of what I get from it. The last thing is whatever I end up doing with my life I want to feel prepared and confident in my ability to do that thing, and if I build good study habits now I’ll be good!

What motivates me to study is the internal feeling of knowing and understanding everything I can. Not knowing a new concept, and getting confused and angry just motivates me more to understand it so well that it becomes easy. Also, I think I fear failure and I am a very stressed person even when I have nothing to do

After studying structural engineering for so many years I have learned that making mistakes did so much impact on understanding the subject, as the traditional learning doesn’t apply that good on learning about mechanics and similar! I always have that big goal somewhere in my head and that makes me keep going 😊 and also knowing that I am not alone struggling ❤️😊😍

Good luck to everyone studying! 🌈I LOVE learning, it's so freaking beautiful 🥺🌹 I've been going through a tough time, so sometimes it's really hard to find the energy to study, even if I love it. So i'm relying on habits! Trying to study even if I don't feel like it, cuz i know my future self will be really happy to not be behind and will have a easier time to keep on learning new things!✨

Think of all that will happen and how satisfied you will be once everything is all over, all the stress, all the pressure, etc. Use this to motivate you to study. Think about the positive outcomes of you studying and the negative outcomes of you not studying. This helps me want to study :)

i know this was a year ago, but what motivates me is the fact that what i do in school will help people. i want to become a cancer researcher so that no one has to lose people to cancer like i did. when i don’t want to study, i think of the people at the funerals that i could have prevented, the pain of the people with cancer. i know it’s dark but that’s what motivates me.

what motivated me is the aesthetic of learning, a clean desk with a clean mind, pretty notes, and organisation systems. I know that people say “studying aestheticly isnt going to get good grades, stationary is a waste of money” but for me with ADHD thinking about studying aestheticly is the only thing that get me to sit up and study. Also, knowing that I am able to get good grades out of a subject I hate, or getting good grades while having ADHD really motivates me. If I know I’ve done it once then I know I can do it again

Hi Jade! I study Italian Literature in Milan 📚✨ Your passion for learning is truly inspirational and it reminds me what's really important, especially during exam season: we cannot study for good grades, we must study to improve as human beings and to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us. Can't wait to read your book! Take care 💓🌷

Hey Jade!! I really liked your advice about binding your new habits to the ones which are already there , it makes a lot of sense and i'll start doing it from today. As a med student it is not really easy to find time to learn German but as i am watching your content about German language or learning overall i feel like it is not that hard when you know the little tips and techniques 🦋 And lastly from my personal experience to keep myself motivated is that accepting that motivation is and emotion that gets in and out of your life. When you feel unmotivated just accept that feeling, don't force yourself to be productive just go for a walk or meditate to free up your mind and trust me when you come back you'll feel much better! Hope that is helpful!! Take it easy on yourself, You got this 💖

I started a new semester a week ago (right after a bloody hectic month and a half to say the very least) and even though I still feel partly drained, videos like this remind me every time of the amazing privilege that is studying medicine. It reminds me that 4 years ago? this was a DREAM and today I'm living it. Why do I study? To become the best student and doctor I could be 🌟 to grow and thrive and dive deeper in science and the human body while also not forgetting that I'm human as well and creating a safe space for myself where I could be satisfied and at peace with what I do.
