First car was an Opel Ascona 1.9N, I was able to do 80% of its maintenance. Opel introduced a Kadett with a digital dashboard, a few years later.

I had 4 of these, with the Vauxhall Viva 1.25l engine. They all ran main bearings.

Opel bearly exist in Asia... I hope the brand comes in more countries...

It may not have been a prominent marque under its name but numerous models designed engineered and even manufactured under other names have been widely available and sold well throughout Asia.

The Calibra had a drag of 0.26 and not 0.29 as you're mentioning in the video. The 1st gen Omega had a drag of 0.28 respectively, but it was launched two years prior to the Calibra. GM had a long story of aerodynamically shaped vehicles starting in a mass production with the 1982 Firebird Trans Am. Having for that model a drag coefficient of 0.30 back in 1982, it was the most aerodynamically car GM had ever produced at the time.

Great and iconic germand brand. I hope Stellantis group, didn't end up destroying it... :( I'm a proud owner of an Insignia 2.0 CDTI ST and it's a great and comfortable car. Its aerodynamics (wow! I've read this several times) counteract its high weight, achieving good performance and very low fuel consumption. 175,000 km and only one breakdown (and not a serious one) in almost 10 years.

nice overview. Abit more attention to Corsa would have been welcome. Do not forget Kapitän and Signum. And the Vauxhal brand.

Opel produced great cars for years, until is has been taken by PSA and stellantis. Now it produces poor and unreliable rebranded peugeots. Sad end of such great history and heritage...

Pity you mispronounced Adam Opel. Anglophones shouldn't Anglicise names; it is disrespect towards the global audience.
@doordedeur17 күн бұрын
Until recently Opel didn't produce cars, but bought them in from Fiat, Renault, Suzuki, Daewoo and others. Now under Stellantis Opels aren't bought in anymore.

The cars that should be designed by Opel debuted as Saturns, so who really designed them?

Only on a few models the majority of cars ( Corsa, Astra, Vectra and Omega )was build by Opel/Vauxhall in Germany and the UK . Those of the shelf cars from other continents is called badge enginering and GM had joint ventures with Deawoo, Suzuki ,Renault (commercial vehicels) Fiat (engines) at that time. (Isuzu Rodeo => Frontera , Renault Trafic => Vivaro, Suzuki Wagon R/Splash => Agila , Deawoo build cars were at first sold under the Daewoo name and later Chevrolet name and sold in Opel/Vauxhall dealerships. Deawoo went bankrupt due to coruption and the car factories in Korea were allowcated to GM, Suzuki stocks were sold by GM, the joint venture with Renault wasn't renewed when when PSA took over Opel/Vauxhall Fiat is now a part of Stellantis and uses PSA engines.
