I listened to these songs growing up. My dad had a CD of this music. I remember telling my dad "Daddy please put on Petra!" Then once i asked him, "Where did you get this CD Daddy." He said "A long time ago on my birthday your mom gave it to me since i love the music alot." About a year later our red Van broke down.. My mom turned in the broken Van, forgetting the CD was in there. 1 day later i ask my dad "Put on beyond beilef please! Its my favourite one!" My dad says "WHERE IS THE CD!!??" I think with tears in my eyes "In the Van, daddy.." My dad says "Oh my the Van is crushed into pieces now." I say "Is the CD Crushed??!!?" 6 years later here I am now, my dad put Petra on his phone and i smile. Then I say "Well never know if the CD was actually in the Van or not."

I'm a metalcore/deathcore guy but Petra will always hold a special place in my heart. By the time I got into them as a kid, they'd already been split up for a while. My mom told me about them, how she listened to them a lot in high school. I ended up finding their CD's at goodwill's when I was like 9 or 10 or something. I instantly loved them. I own a few of their albums now, especially this one and Unseen Power. My friends and I are big fans of them especially Bob Hartman. Dude was a big influence on me when I started guitar. Now I'm a technical/Progressive metal player. Thanks Bob. These guys are the best. Rooted in the solid rock, the word of God!

We're content to pitch our tent When the glory's evident Seldom do we know The glory came and went Moving can seem dangerous In this stranger's pilgrimage Knowing that you can't stand still You cross the bridge There's a higher place to go Beyond belief, beyond belief Where we reach the next plateau Beyond belief, beyond belief And from faith to faith we grow Towards the center of the flow Where He beckons us to go Beyond belief, beyond belief Leap of faith without a net Makes us want to hitch our bed Waters never part Until our feet get wet, whoa There's a deeper place to go Where the road seems hard to hoe He who has begun this work Won't let it go (let it go!) There's a higher place to go Beyond belief, beyond belief Where we reach the next plateau Beyond belief, beyond belief And from faith to faith we grow Towards the center of the flow Where He beckons us to go Beyond belief, beyond belief And it takes so long to see the change But we look around, and it seems so strange We have come so far, but the journey's long And we once were weak, but now we are strong There's a higher place to go Beyond belief, beyond belief Where we reach the next plateau Beyond belief, beyond belief And from faith to faith we grow Towards the center of the flow Where He beckons us to go Beyond belief, beyond belief.

The key to holiness is falling in love with Jesus. By "falling in love" I don't mean mindless mush. I have in mind having in one's mind a passionate delight in the infinite excellencies of God in Christ. Falling in love with Jesus means having your heart and mind entranced, bedazzled, and captivated by the superlative beauty and sweetness of the Son of God. This experience begins at conversion, for the essence of being born again, is to give the heart a Divine taste or sense; to cause it to have a relish of the loveliness and sweetness of the supreme excellency of the Divine nature. This is no static deposit, however, but a living seed that comes to full flower and blossoms throughout the course of one's life in Christ. It is a live coal, if you will, on which the Holy Spirit deigns to blow and bring to white-hot intensity. This new taste for the sweetness of the Savior, developed and cultivated, is the only thing that turns sin sour in our souls. That's why falling in love with Jesus is the key to holiness. Another way of putting it is that our fight for happiness in God must fuel our fight against sin. Delight in God will alone dislodge sin from our hearts. Delight in God is therefore the aim of all our thoughts and efforts and appetites. Long term, this alone will undermine our delight in sin. In other words, this facebook study focuses on the preeminent passion of our hearts, namely, joy in God. If this passion for God does not consume us, sin will. What I now want to suggest is that our glad-hearted passion for God is exceeded only by God's glad-hearted passion for God, and that the latter is foundational to the former. Let me put it in for a question. What is the preeminent passion in God's heart? What is God's greatest pleasure? How does the happiness of God manifest itself? In what does God take supreme delight? I want to suggest that the preeminent passion in God's heart is His own glory. God is at the center of His own affections. The supreme love of God's life is God. God is preeminently committed to the fame of His name. God is Himself the end for which God created the world. Better still, God's immediate goal in all He does is His own glory. God relentlessly and unceasingly creates, rules, orders, directs, speaks, judges, saves, destroys, and delivers in order to make known who He is and to secure from the whole of the universe the praise, honor, and glory of which He and He alone is ultimately and infinitely worthy. The chief end of God is to glorify God and to enjoy Himself forever. Apart from this decidedly theocentric view of the universe, all our efforts at holiness, be they ever so much in the grace of God, will be seriously deficient. Two objections are often voiced to this assertion. First, this sounds terribly selfish and egocentric. And second, if God loves Himself preeminently, how can He love me at all? How can we say that God is for us and that He desires our happiness if He is primarily for Himself and His own glory? I want to argue that it is precisely because God loves Himself that He loves you. I want to argue that it is precisely in seeking His own happiness that He seeks yours. The only answer that the Bible gives to questions that begin: 'Why did God . . . ?' is: 'For his own glory.' Everything God does is for His own glory. Everything God permits is for His own glory. Everything God pursues is for His own glory. When God acts, it is for the sake of His name. And all this graciously redounds to our happy benefit. To put it more directly, the aim of God in creation and redemption is His delight in our delight in Him! facebook.com/lovejoypeaceforever

One thing that bothers me is that even though Petra has a very explicit Christian message (their songs mention the name of Jesus even more than Hillsong Worship and Jesus Culture), many rock fans just overlook this and enjoy the song without appreciating the message. If this describes you, I urge you to accept Christ in your heart. Only then can you truly understand His power and see why Petra needed to write this music
