Will they do good in the heat of Texas? I would love to have one, but I’m concerned about their health him the hot and humid environment of south Texas.

They have a double coat. Soft undercoat and outer wirey coat which grow at amazing rates and need constant care or will matt up. I regularly 3:51 use a rake to remove loose coat but electric clippers every 6-8 weeks. Sometimes 3:51 longer in cold, wet Winter (UK) & then looks cross between teddy bear & wooley mammoth !❤ Best dogs ever, never a dull moment. 😂

they don't do well in the heat. I live in Florida and I take mine for walks before the sun comes up. The rest of the time he's in the house with air conditioning but has a doggy door if he wants to go out. If you're getting one to put in the yard, don't bother. these dogs like to be with their people, they're not loaners and putting him in a yard will only make him miserable and destructive. He's also a very energetic dog, they're working dogs so they like to keep busy. They were used in WWII as messengers because their endurance is like an ever ready battery. They're very hyper so you need to have the right personality and lifestyle to own a dog like this. Lots of patience too. They're not for everybody. You should try and check one out from someone who has them. I had this couple do that, they wanted one and asked if they could come meet mine. They were a really nice couple but the Airedales energy and power was too much for them and they opted for a wire haired terrier instead. They're extremely energetic too but their size was more manageable for them.

@@oxfords1 Thanks for the info. I prefer my dogs to live in the house as part of the family, not in the yard like a piece of furniture. I heard they have loads of energy. I do need a walking companion, but I’m concerned about the rest of the day for the dog. I may get one with a bit less energy. Thanks again.
