I picked one of these up for cheap a couple Weeks ago and I gotta say, I’m impressed with that lil rig. I live on a bumpy dirt road that has taken a few bumpers and parts off cars and this lil truck full speed soaks up everything I’ve put it on. Fast and handles like a damn trophy truck for sure. Thank you for this. I just bought one about a week ago. I'm new to the Truck side of the RC hobby and I noticed the grinding gear noise that you mentioned at the end of the video. I'm going to drop the motor out and take a look at the pinion setup before I run it next to see if it goes away. Thankfully my sessions up to now have been short (I think my longest run so far has been about 10 minutes) so hopefully no damage there I can look into fixing that. Also thanks for the heads up on the shocks. I noticed that my body likes to just hug the ground now - I'll also try adjusting the shocks to get that body back off the ground and working properly!

Glad to see this truck get the love it deserves. I've had one for three years and it's a tank, for the value I'd take this over a traxxas slash 4x4 any day. I have both and the losi is way more reliable, controllable and durable than the slash.

Pretty sure the steering slop is deliberately made like that, just like the saggy suspension, Losi seem to design their RC to mimick how the full scale versions behave. I.e. suspension sag and travel and quite a bit a slack in the steering is a good thing for baja style vehicles when travelling across ruff terrain at 100+mph

The front actually goes back up under acceleration due to high grip and squat on the rear and with that suspension setup, definitely meant for some baja blast fun 🤙🏾

Gear mesh is supposed to tight when its fresh because the parts haven't mated yet. Would not recommend running the motor plate on a different setting than what the manual states. On my third baja rey all running 3s on 10t pinions.

I recently bought a BR and was wondering how your gears have held over the last year being in the 14 slot? Mine sounded very grindy in bench tests and I clocked it over to 14 like you mentioned and its seems ok and much quieter. Just worried the gears are close enough now and worried about tooth wear from the possible lack of mesh. Any info is much appreciated. I cant even get much info on FB or internet about it. I'm glad I watched your video lol. Thanks! 😁

They make a few adapter pieces to make it work and it requires the raptor bumper but yes it is possible to convert the bodys

Hello, are you supposed to use thread locker on the screws holding the motor and the screw holding the pinion gear? I been running 3s batteries,Ive had the truck for about 2 weeks. Its been overheating and shutting down. I didn't know i had to change the pinion gear. If it wasn't for your video i would have not figured it out!!! I am new to this hobby. I had radioshack Rc cars in my teens. Also, once i changed to the 10 teeth pinion gear if I tighten the plate/door too tight it will make a loud gear noise you were talking about. I had to barely sug the front 2 screws and really tightened the 3rd screw. Thanks!!

I think they made a few changes. I just bought mine, came in on the 20th of this month. It's IC5/EC5 and has a spektrum engine ecu. Not sure if there's any other changes but something that's different that I've noticed so far. Maybe they changed to keep up production during the current issues.

i have this truck , i cant believe this fella isnt answering your questions , this is a 1/10 and the UDR is about 1/7 so UDR is a bit bigger but this IS a big 1/10, my pal has the UDR and i have to tell you it BREAKS and quite a lot, all kinds of things from the servo to the rear axle melting ?? of the two i would go for the Losi Raptor Rey all day long because IT IS TOUGH but this reviewer hAS NOT TOLD THE FULL STORY , maybe because he has it on low traction surfaces but i have no problem telling you that this truck suffers from the same problems as the UDR on high traction surfaces , it rolls over all the time ! but even worse and something that the UDR doesnt have anywhere near as bad is HORRENDOUS torque steer ! like nothing ive EVER SEEN before and ive been in this hobby since 1984, how this product got through the simple fit for purpose checks i have no idea , the torque steer is riddickulous theres no other way to put it, on 3s under hard acceleration over 1 metre the car will pull SAVAGELY 2 foot to the left , so this makes it very easy to smash your car in the street if your not VERY careful, it only has greece in the diffs and is 90% power to front wheels under heavy acceleration , putting heavy diff oil in centre diff helps plus changing wheels for some with a good off set and less sticky tires which leads me to something else that this guy hasnt mentioned , this is an absolute PIG to work on , if you have little experience working on rc cars DO NOT BUY THIS OR THE UDR ! also remember if you want to drive this on ANYTHING other than gravel you will need to armour up that lovely body because all that rolling over on tarmac is going to scrape it VERY BADLY , take my word for it, i have pieces of leather taped on every corner as well as the roof , IT NEEDS IT

Gear mesh is auto set from the motor plate and transmission housing its not adjustable.

Two different experiences I'd say. this would probably be better for bashing but if you ever want to run on a track the slash is much more adjustable for track conditions. Just my two cents I think you would have a lot of fun with either one.

You sure it is open diff on the rear? Mine is locked spool and I double checked on the user manual which seconds this on exploded diagram

@@stevenmortensen1257 Open diff is better for handling and the vehicle will roll over less. The bad part is on loose surfaces it might have a hard time getting up to speed, or if one air is in the wheel it might not wanna go forward due to the load going to the wheel with the least resistance. A locked diff will make it roll more, is more scale, plenty of traction on loose surface since both rear tires will spin equally, but it won't handle as well for racing

I'm between this one and the tenacity db pro. Wich one do you recommend? I think with the tenacity i will get better handling more top speed and I also like the option to add the bluetooth module and have the telemetry stuff... Do you think its a better rc than this one? Mine does exactly the same thing at hard acceleration and I guess that is just some torque steering based on the power transfer design or layout on this truck.

I run 2s 5800mah and 3s 5000mah, and get about 30/25mins if Lipo cutoff voltage set to 3.4V

You have to remove the transmission box to access the spur. Unless your at a track the spur doesn't need to be changed. If you are running 3s the manual states to install the 10t pinion and most BR owners don't do that.

My esc or motor was broken when i got it but instead of replacing it the shop sent it back with a broken servo that was fine when i sent it to them :( still a great truck if id have money to fix it or if the shop wouldve given me a working vehicle

This is 1/10th scale. $430. UDR is like $800 or higher. UDR is 1/7th scale. Losi has thr Super Baja Rey which is 1/6th scale and is more comparable to the UDR. Although the 1/10th looks better
