Bandmaid keep you interested within a song. Never a dull movement.

The maid costumes are one of the reasons why I haven't given this band a chance in a long time. But then I listened to their music and my opinion changed dramatically. Glad you liked the song! 👍

Back to the rotoscoping bit, and the entire opening of the video. Each band member is appearing in a location from one of their previous videos. Miku is specifically in the video "Thrill" and that little section of her rocking out is straight from that video. The other videos referenced in order are: Blooming (Saiki) Domination (Akane) Alone (Kanami) Dice (Misa) Thrill (Miku) There are tons of little other easter eggs splashed throughout the video that are there for all the fans to enjoy as well. Yes, they use click tracks in their live performances. I don't know that you could play half their music without one, listen to the insanity of Blackhole and you'll get what I mean. As far as it not being your cup of tea and too musically dense for you. That's fine, everyone likes what they like. You are respectful and recognize the skill involved, we'll mostly reciprocate (there are always some that won't). Specifically on the solo, the pedal Kanami uses is pretty controversial within the fanbase itself. Many are not a fan of that specific sound. I will always support them trying new things, sometimes it doesn't work as well for me as I would hope, but because they're always changing and growing I have no fear it will get sorted in the future. Someone recommend Manners or Daydreaming on the discord. I think that might be more his style.

The UNLEASH video is about how a Small Pigeon rallied a band of maids who launched a campaign for World Domination. But just as all the pieces were falling in place, including a scheduled high-profile “one-man” concert at Budokan, the pandemic cast a dark shadow across the globe, scuttling BAND-MAID’s plans. But the MAIDS were not deterred. They launched a new campaign, using the Internet to stay in touch with their fans and to win new ones, posting on KZbin songs from concert films, supporting the work of reaction channels, creating special video content for their fan club, and producing several online concerts. When things returned to normal, the band emerged stronger than ever, performing live again, and embarking on a year-long Tenth Anniversary Tour which brought them to the U.S. twice, including a set at LOLLAPALOOZA, and wrapping up finally in November 2023, at YOKOHAMA ARENA. They’ve been busy in 2024, as well, with concerts throughout, another anime theme (PROTECT YOU) and collaborations with INCUBUS (BESTIE) and THE WARNING (SHOW THEM. I’m not sure if “bogus” means what you think it does.

Band-Maid has this certain phenomenon thing going regarding their more progy-punk hard rock and Anime written tunes. These songs are hard, complex and will totally grow on you like a thousand pound R&R leech. The Maids in this format are relentless and powerful. Their “AniMaid” (anime) Covid-fighting "Unleash!!!!!" MV and new battle gear is exciting, meaningful and classy! As Maidiacs report: Maid Music will continue to dominate the world until everyone succumbs in ecstasy to its brilliant and undeniable forces!!!!! 💥🎀💥Thx, Tim!

Thanks for the reaction! You might like some of their more melodic pieces, like Memorable, for instance. Much of their music is this sort of chaotic stuff, but they have so many songs, with such broad variations that there is almost always a song for everybody.

Their pre-covid items are nowhere near as fast or chaotic in general.

I appreciate your opinion and think everyone appreciates your opinion too. Thank you for your reaction! I believe a lot a people get too rapped up in music theory and lose sight its not absolute, it is a theory that although it's been around a long time, can be altered and modified to fit a song. There is no real wrong way to express musical interpretation by altering current music theory when you're highly talented and trained. I think they are just opening up a new outlet and level to that theory by creating something different. Band Maid has some really slow songs in their catalog you'll probably appreciate like About Us, Daydreaming, Page , Endless Story and Wonderland. They also have a Christmas Acoustic Album you probably will enjoy too. 👍

Matchless Gum, Puzzle, Mirage, Anemone as well...and many earlier pieces were slower although many were still very heavy.

Here’s a less chaotic BAND-MAID song: WONDERLAND - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmXLqX-bfcekkNEsi=i-rZKiGiLJ4-uAOp And I think you would enjoy their recent Mike Einziger collaboration, BESTIE.

Just a note about the timing you mentioned, there is actually no change in tempo (bpm), what they are doing is changing the feel so that it seems slower. What they’re doing is taking a faster beat in the main part of the song and then going into half time on the bridge, making each measure twice as long which has the effect of making it sound twice as slow. No need for a metronome to do this. As a drummer I’ve played song that do this. Sorry, this is not the best explanation. Actually, you could say the bridge is twice as slow as the other parts of the song, but the bpm fit perfectly in the slower part because it’s twice as slow. Mathematics 😂. It’s a cool effect 😎.

Miku (Backing Vocals/Guitar), worked for some years in a maid cafe's after a spell in JPop. The idea then came to her to ware maid outfits while playing rock music- "The Gap". Kanami (Lead Guitar) does all of the arrangements for all instruments, with suggestions adde later. For more melody try Wonderland Official Live Video or Daydreaming Official Music Videos.

Interesting take on the animation, Legacy. It's worth noting that there are certain bands that like to push the envelope just a bit past the listener's comfort level. Often times, dissonance turns to beauty. That happened to me with Sonic Youth. I thought they were the most awful sounding thing in the history of time until I learned to "embrace the dissonance." This ties in also with how Band-Maid's songs should never be judged on a first listen. You will always miss half of what's going on musically, and repeat listens tend to reward those with the sticktoitiveness.

Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid. Post-covid Band-Maid is a bit too chaotic for you I guess, apart from Manners. You'd probably enjoy their 2017-2019 materials better, with some gorgeous mid-tempo songs as well. I've come to love their recent style as well, but their earlier songs are just as good, unique and catchy but not as fast and chaotic.

i read a interview with the bass player Misa. She has love affair with alcohol. If you notice here she is taking a drink from a bottle of something. She admits to drinking alcohol on stage. I hope it isn't her undoing.
