There are also "quieter" red dwarves; TRAPPIST-1 is one such example. But yeah, most do flare up frequently like this. Trouble for any habitable planets they have.
@michalzustak88462 жыл бұрын
From how I understand it it is a question of age. They will be quiet for most of their existence and ocean planets may still retain more water than Earth by the end of their flare period, and Earthlike planets will likely not be completely dry because there are still comets and asteroids impacting bearing water even if the planet dries out initially.

my star makes some small flares, not like some million yrs ago but yeah
@Ceres4S2D12 жыл бұрын
In a nutshell, the gravity of a Red Dwarf isn't entirely strong enough to hold it's own flares, so when it flares, they go far, like really far, thus making them unstable. Bigger stars, like Sol, have more mass, so they can hold the flares back, thus being much more stable. The biggest stars struggle to keep themselves together, so most have powerful flares, so in reality, go with something like a G type star, and you'll be fine for 5-15 billion years! Dogepro is professional. I'm such an idiot for interrupting their videos. The hard work that they have to do, and for me to just watch them and make an exaggerating mile long comment, who do I think I am. Dogepro is ALWAYS busy. The quality of the videos says it all. The music, the movements, the PlanetBalls, and Stars themselves, I think I should owe them an apology. This behavior will not be tollerated on this channel. Even an apology doesn't feel like enough. I can't keep my cryovolcanoes from errupting, it's suffering. The parasites, the asteroids, and false classification, I'm about to do it. I'm about to hit the Earth with an asteroid. I A M N O T A N A S T E R O I D. I don't understand why they think I am... My contents are rich in water and salts, like... Seriously? I'm more like a comet. But regardless, I'm spherical. It lets me as dwarf planet, and classifies me as a Dwarf Planet. Anything lower, and it's definitely an asteroid/comment, but not me. Then again, I hope Dogepro doesn't call me that, because if so, I'd do Nuclear *Fission.* I hope I wasn't too much of a disappointment. If you read this, please use your power to reduce me to quarks. You probably wasted your time, and I must owe it back to you.
@kevinabiwardani75502 жыл бұрын
G Type star is quite stable, yes (since we live on one of the planet orbiting it.) But what about an Orange K Type star? Scientist even said that these stars are not only more stable, but also last longer than G Type stars. Imagine a habitable planet with red plants that can last up to 2 times the Sol's age of living!

The quality is getting higher and higher! Too bad the same could be said about the flares Proxima creates, no planet is capable to harbor life next to such an active star, sadly. Though a colony could be made on the dark side of a tidally locked planet of a red dwarf, even if it's a flare star. It only needs giant mirrors to reflect and concentrate the star's light into one, huge somde city!
