l give stems only to exclusive beats. It’s only bad if you’re giving the stems for unlimited license cos what’s the point on buying the exclusive. Dame Taylor spoke on this.
@LilNapbeats7 күн бұрын
Well the point is exclusive ownership. Some artists are attached enough to their art, that they might want that beat for them and not hear the same beat on other tracks.

I think leasing in general is best for Hip hop only. But I like what Dame said, have your set of leased beats and a separate set of exclusive beats

Because it helps independent artist who don't have 24,000 to drop on one beat smh

Yeah, different strokes for different folks. There will always be a need at different levels, you just gotta pick a niche, more or less.

Exactly this. It's straight not worth it if I actually think the song will do well to risk buying anything less than exclusive.

@@dejuanballard3367 why not start with a lease and then if it starts to do well get the exclusive?
@grantasticbeats8 күн бұрын
Well said Pain all leases on a beat prior to it possibly being bought exclusively are still valid. A lot of people seem to have different ideas of what exclusive means and it just creates a ton of confusion.
@Astromadeit7 күн бұрын
Don’t sell a beat exclusively if it’s already been leased forever.

"Record labels are in business to own masters and artists willing sign up for it." What does that have to do with the producer? I created 50% of the master copyright.
@DJPain18 күн бұрын
@@prod.xx808xx it’s a confusing argument. Hes saying labels will only buy your masters (producer’s part too), which isn’t 100% true, but it’s the norm

@@DJPain1 It shouldn't be the norm. I didn't sign up give away my portion of the masters.

@@DJPain1 He said "the labels will never let producer ever keep the masters." Isn't that illegal?
@DJPain15 күн бұрын
@@prod.xx808xx Yes, they send you a contract with WFH language on the sound recording copyright aka the masters and you either sign it and get a royalty rate and advance payment in exchange for the transference of rights or you refuse.
