Our village is growing and winter is approaching so we need to start stockpiling more food for our people. Following the theme of the residential and industrial district revamps it is time to tear down and rebuild our food production chain - so new farms, new cooking houses and warehouses built and designed to keep the food cooking and our villagers eating.
Also the winter invasion is a few days away - but we can surely ignore that, right?
New patch - new series. Max Invasions. Max Monsters, Max Monster Population, Max Wolves, Max Bears and Autumn start... what could possibly go wrong?

Free Tip: For food, find 2 water wells close to each other and make the cooking house in between, set 2 hunter hut very near the food house and a warehouse with cooked food store with a villager to work the WH, put 2 chefs in 12 hrs shift and 4 hunters, you will have infinite food, I never have food problems with this strategy, hope it helps anybody. You farm too, right? Otherwise meat will run out quickly once you get higher population (unless you get a bunch of fisher huts too). Great tip on location though - I always plan my villages around those wells!

@ I’d be interested to see what population hunter only can sustain. I guess your meat soup is using 4 red meat versus if you had a farm it’d use 1 red meat and 3 veggies. But hey if it works it works. I’m west country English at heart - I’ll make a farming simulator out of any game 🤓

My trick to keep them from eating raw food has been to make my cooked storage is in city centers (whever i expect npcs to morning lesiure) with the raw a bit further out. Getting my villagers to not eat raw beets like savages has been an endless war they seem to want to eat whatever is closest. Cookeries have alot of down time to run around and grab raw food while the pots work. Enjoying your videos.

Glad you're enjoying them! Interesting way to handle it, definitely going to keep that in mind because whitelisting everything will eventually drive me mad!

Really enjoy your videos. Very entertaining and informative. Whitelisting is so important and kinda complicated. The first time I tried setting up my outpost, per your video, I messed up my settings and my woodworker snagged a metal axe from workshop and proceeded to wipe out all the birch trees, including logs/poles!?! I guess he was really, really focused on bark, which was my fault considering I made that a "high" setting. Oh well, live and learn.

@@JohnnyCrossCheck oh man - now I’m worried and going to go check my woodcutter settings haha. Yeah, they really like chopping down entire forests for resin and turning everything useful into bark and firewood!

@@SerBucky It's all my fault. I like to watch your videos as I play, so in this case I got overly excited about your outpost video as I was right in middle of setting mine up. But, I didn't pay attention to exactly how you did it. However, if you ever made a super in-depth whitelisting guide and how it applies to all the buildings, I bet others would benefit. Your ability to work in humorous worker banter with very useful tips is really cool.

@@JohnnyCrossCheck Hey thanks, I appreciate that! I definitely do want to do a whitelisting video and now YT shorts can be over 1 min I guess now is a good time. Goal for the weekend for sure! Thanks again!

@@JohnnyCrossCheck Did you use the Aska Alone seed too then, or are you on your own seed?
@JohnnyCrossCheck
@JohnnyCrossCheck Ай бұрын
@@SerBucky I use a seed I initially started with, I have found all 3 mines. **I'm currently on 7th restart...that's embarrassing.😱 Also, in this vid you mentioned how bad it is to lose a farm, well I learned the hard way if you lose a warehouse, you lose ALL stored items -- which seems obvious, but it was devastating to lose all my metal/ore in one swoop.

why don't you terraform the area around the bear spawner into walls so that it stays whithin them forever? in case you don't know, elevate the area around the spawner using the ground level tool (find a high enough spot nearby and 'transfer' 1-2 squares from it to the area around the fort and go grom there) hope it helps:)
@SerBucky
@SerBucky Ай бұрын
I've definitely seen people do that and never knew how it was achieved! Thanks! Since my game has no herbivores though (bugged) the bear is actually a good source of meat. I probably should embrace it and settle there just with some archers on duty at all times to deal with it each spawn!

@@SerBucky btw, in case there's no high enough ground nearby but there's a beach or smth low, a moat will do the trick (same logic: 'transfer' a low level 'square' and go from there)
