I have an att phone unlocked running on Verizon network. Mobile hotspot won't work it shows a message like I'm not subscribed. Verizon tech said everything looks good on their end and said it's my phone

T-mobile tablet that used to be capped. After talking to a real empowered employee, They set up my tablet as an unlimited hotspot device. It has a data sim card. It is only 4g LTE but it works. Sometimes the hack is talking to the right customer service rep.

More recently I purchased an iPad with unlimited data on T-Mobile So far it seems the hotspot feature isn't capped, and it isn't throttled!

If you don't use cable or don't like expensive internet providers mobile hotspot is ideal for not just Xbox an it is not weird

Truck driving... we get shafted with limits, and PDA net has its limitations to broadcast to things like a nintendo switch. So any work around helps.

What's the risk of changing the APN settings that he was talking about? I'm assuming he meant that it won't hide the connection and the carrier could find out that I'm using more Hotspot data than what my plan allows?

ChromeOS is just GNU/Linux with the chrome desktop slapped on it, so if you install a few packages on your chromeOS it probably will work. Arch Linux has support for tethering as well

Xbox live from a phone is awesome when you normally only have DSL at 3mbps....just sayin....but my new phone is causing me some issues using hotspot

Newer phones are troublesome getting hotspot to work UNLIMITED Phone carriers let's say have been working very closely with phone makers if you're still having issues, I would consider rooting your phone, this will give you more options

Yeah that's probably my only option. Haven't researched it much yet. Only had this phone for like 4 days right now. Was very disappointed when my sim card withdrawal trick didn't work on this one. I was still using 2013 Moto droids just because of it but it was time for an upgrade in tech. I can always popout the sim and put in that old phone when I need some wifi. Just a pain in the ass swapping like that.

Only way I know, is to check your hotspot usage after setting everything up…

I wouldn't see why not... though if you get your phone from your carrier (instead of buying it yourself) they might have in-built restrictions

You may need to create a new APN instead of editing the existing one… that’s what I had to do

For that I recommend trying to locate information like what I talked about in the video, but specifically for Verizon. Try Googling: no throttling hotspot for “Verizon”

Verizon is in quotations for a reason, this tells Google that your search results must contain the word “Verizon” try to find information on Reddit, XDA Developers, or Tech Crunch, etc as these tend to be the better sources of information

Dear Mad Hat Hacking, thank you for the informative video you made. It has helped me understand that I'm wasting my time with PDA.Net. In your video you mentioned people trying to play Xbox on their phones. I'm able to use PDA.Net for Xbox but can't use party chat. I think my phone provider blocks the ports.. I was wondering if you could possibly give me any advice to help me use my phone to play Xbox. I live out in the country and next to a thick wall of trees. Wireless internet towers here use point to point networks and the trees block the signal. I have a Samsung S21 Ultra on T Mobile network. I get full bars 5G. I have exhausted all of my options at this point. Thank you for your time and consideration. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated.

Yeah Bud I live on my Sailing yacht on the ocean about a mile out in the FL keys, I really dont want to spend 15 grand on marine satellite internet lmk if you found anything, I only have 40gs of high speed hotspot than it blows lmao

That should be doable 👍 though my Windows PC isn't setup at the moment so I am unable to test it Best bet is probably Pdanet, which has a Windows program as well as an Android app and is designed for USB tethering

Latency is due to the network, but I've noticed that if I don't have apps running in the background on my device that tends to help You can use Greenify to hibernate background apps and that might help

Is this legit I use total wireless and they recently put unlimited plans but like every other service they throttle it I get 5gbs of 4g Lte data and then it's 2g data

Some plans will still restrict the overall data usage, there isn't a way around this AFAIK... hiding hotspot usage is relatively easy but hiding the fact that your device is using data at all? I am not sure there is a way

Thank you sooo much for sharing. So I am using pdanet+ and I select (WIFI Direct Hotspot) then I connect the phone to a wifi repeater. Then I have to change the proxy for each device in order for the internet to work from the repeater. My question is it possible to change the proxy setting on the wifi repeater device instead of changing all the devices manually. Especially I have smart devices that I can't Chang the proxy for. also, please. Tell us how to do it with the root.

That would depend on which repeater you have. Fyi though, they make repeaters / travel routers with support for USB phone tethering, I just picked one up from gl.inet

Once you create a hotspot using one of the methods in my video, you should be able to connect your Fire TV to the WiFi network from your phone Under the Fire settings > networking settings

I don’t recall right now what the names of the different apps are, but I would start by checking Fdroid’s App Store (open source apps), they should have some options.

I haven't used easy tether is quite a while so I can't say for sure I plan to do an updated video (hopefully soon!) And maybe easy tether would be a good inclusion in that video

Unfortunately PDAnet is not a perfect solution. It doesn't even work on some devices (like Chromecast) In some cases though it seems to be the other thing that works at all! At least without rooting your device Hopefully I'll be able to upload a rooting tutorial in the near future
