Thank you for this very informative video. We have a Simpson 4400 psi pressure washer that has a built in (part of the pump) unloader. As far as I can tell it does not have a bypass like the machine you show in your video. It only has a pressure relief valve and then a small (possibly) another relief valve on the bottom of the unloader. There does not appear to be any extra inlets of outlets to install a bypass hose to. Would we have to install a secondary unloader in order to install a bypass hose to run out on the ground or recapture in a tank?

What does it mean when it suddenly kicks into bypass while pulling the trigger.. it will be fine than randomly just stop the pressure.. just cleaned the valves so dont think it then, changed the bearings botg roller and ball..and changed oil..

Good Explanation but what about these Ryobi pressure washer 3000s with Honda GCV160 engines and runs great with trigger on wand fully depressed but surges when idle. How do I set my unloader valve on it
@PoweredbyVeloci
@PoweredbyVeloci Жыл бұрын
That surging sound is the unloader operating and pushing water into bypass. You will need to refer to the Ryobi manual to properly adjust.

Why is my pressure washer building pressure while I’m trying to crank it. I have to hold the trigger for it to come on
@PoweredbyVeloci
@PoweredbyVeloci Жыл бұрын
Prior to starting, always run water through the pressure washer to release any built up pressure. This is especially important after a failed start as the actuated pump will have built up pressure in the system making it difficult to crank.

I have the same problem. If I don't open trigger to release pressure first, the machine won't start. You can put anything in trigger as well while starting it, like a small ball, soda can, folded towel, etc.

Your unloader valve may be dirty/clogged. Take it off and thoroughly clean it.

Could anyone tell me how to spot the difference between a trap pressure unloader and flow? I've looked at mine and cannot tell.

A trapped pressure unloader is the full formal name for an unloader.

Now see this is confusing to me pretty sure my machine needs a new unloader valve and whats bad it's a brand new machine. I've already contacted the manufacturer and they're sending me a new one. Now my confusion is somebody clarify this for me my machine is rated for 3600 PSI with a 0° red nozzle or a turbo nozzle on my wand when I pull the trigger on the gun im barely getting 2200 psi but when I let go thr head pressure jumps all the way to 4200 psi and then settles at around 4000. Funny thing is adjusting the unloader does nothing for the pressure but when I tighten it down the head pressure increases instead of the outbound pressure including where it settles for example tightening it almost all the way down at the manufacturer's full stop idle head pressure jumps all the way to 5000 psi and then settles at around 4800 psi and the engine definitely does not like it because it's strains like crazy to get it there but what's weird is when I pull the trigger no matter where the unloaders is set on the gun pressure drops all the way to 2200psi or lower depending on what nozzle im using like the 40° nozzle when it's installed pressure barely goes to 1200 psi and then skyrockets to 4000 psi as soon as i let go of the trigger. Surely that is a sign of a failed or malfunctioning unloader valve?

Where are you measuring the pressure from? Also, keep in mind that the operating pressure will not change between a 0º and 40º nozzle. The spray pattern only changes the fan, not the orifice of the nozzle. And if your nozzle size is too big you would experience a pressure drop. Use this calculator to double check your orifice size requirement based on your pressure washer PSI and GPM: www.mtmhydroparts.com/pages/nozzle-size-calculator

@@PoweredbyVeloci that could very well be my issue because all the nozzles that came with the machine for example the 0° tip says 00027, 15027, 25027 and so on. each tip starts with its pattern size and then ends in 027 so I'm going to assume that all the tips that came withe the machine are 2.7. but what's confusing to me is I have tested in a 5 gallon bucket it takes nearly four full minutes to fill it so I'm definitely getting half the GPM as well as only 3/4 of the rated pressure My pump has a pressure gauge right at the outlet set up is like so it goes pump outlet, female to male threaded pressure adapter with 1/4-inch inlet threads that the pressure gauge is in then to a threaded female quick connect so I'm getting head pressure readings I don't have a pressure gauge for the end of the hose yet so no idea exactly what the pressure is at the end of the hose. All I know is I'm getting a massive swing when pulling the goes from 4,000 PSI all the way down to 2200psi when spraying when I let off it rockets up to 4200psi and then settles at around 4000 adjusting the unloader down does nothing but lower the idling psi does nothing for the operating psi which stays at 2200 no matter where the unloader gets set.

It's very possible that the pump is not operating correctly. Could be debris in the system or bad valve. If you're still experiencing issues once the unloader is replaced, the next step would be servicing the pump.

@@PoweredbyVeloci it's a brand new machine had it less than a week if there's a problem such as that going on it's going back to Simpson or at the very least I'm sure they will just warranty the pump.

I have a Dewalt direct drive I believe 4000 psi 3.5 or 4 gph. Can I make it discharge to the ground or a tank?
@PoweredbyVeloci
@PoweredbyVeloci Жыл бұрын
Yes, you would simply plumb it to dump to a tank instead of back into the water supply inlet. We recommend capturing the water wherever possible.
