This is such an awesome initiative! I’ve been trying out your GPT, and it works really well. As a medical student, I find that pre-made decks like Zanki are excellently constructed and formatted. Have you perhaps thought of exporting Zanki as a CSV and using that as a reference for your GPT? It would be a huge reference bank with near guaranteed quality which might improve the function of the GPT!
@JakeRommMD6 ай бұрын
Yes! Zanki is too big though, and with a custom GPT, they don't "train" on the files you upload, only reference, so after a certain point, more examples isn't going to improve the outputs. But you could train a local LLM on zanki and a bunch of other pre-made decks. I had a colleague do this. But we thought GPT-4 was still better (for now at least). You can also pay to train a custom version of chat gpt on your own files as well, but it's via the api and is a a little cost-prohibitive for right now.

The best solution I have when creating flashcards for preventing missing information is giving it shorter pieces of text. In the end, is probably going to understand the text (thanks to the prompt instructions related to 'adding context').

Yes, it will make cloze deletion cards for you based on any text you give it. No matter the source. It won't handle images for you unfortunately. At least not in any way that would be actually helpful.

Wow, thank you so much. Subbed. Can you make one where it has mixed anki cards or does it only work with one form of anki cards?
@JakeRommMD2 ай бұрын
You can only import one type of anki flashcard at a time (you can't import cloze and basic cards at the same time) so I have different GPTs for the different types. Links should be on my website. You could have it make both types, but you would just have to store them in separate spreadsheets.

I tried it, and it's awesome Jake! What do you think about the "actions" section in the custom GPT's? Do you maybe have a good idea on how to use it for creating even more amazing cards?
@JakeRommMD3 ай бұрын
I haven't experimented with it very much, but you definitely could make a more sophisticated automation using "actions" and a tool like "Make" to string together the different steps of making the cards. I was experimenting with having the custom GPT directly send the cars to a Google sheet, instead of copying and pasting them. But I decided I prefer to manually screen the cards to cut down on redundant or low quality cards. But it has potential for sure!

@@JakeRommMD Ahhhh ok this sounds interesting! Have you changed something to the prompt shown in the video for cloze deletion cards since uploading the video? I copied the prompt and was just thinking about that right now, so that I'm not missing out on important things.

Hey Jake, First off I wanna thank you so much for what you‘re doing, it‘s been helping me so much!! I have a question about your Anki GPT for the Cloze Deletion cards.. It has 2 starter conversations, is there a specific reason for it, and does it have an impact on the outcome of the cards if I‘m switching them up ? Greetings from Germany!
@JakeRommMD3 ай бұрын
Hello! The starter prompts have very little effect on the outputs. The GPT should know what to do with any text you give it regardless of how you start the conversation. You can mold it to do whatever you want, but at a baseline it should always make cloze deletion cards the same way.
@ThisIsOwnex3 ай бұрын
@@JakeRommMD Ok thank you very much for the fast respond! And I have a great idea for a Video you could produce, if you would like to. Maybe on how to exactly train a custom GPT, so it fits your needs. I would like to try and create a GPT on my own, but if I‘m comparing mine with yours, my GPTs are terrible 😂

Love your GPT's so far!! There is one thing I would like to ask you. Since I'm from Germany, I would like to make my own GPT based on your prompt but translated in german, so I'm getting a better output. The only problem I think I'm getting is that I do not have files with good cloze deletion cards that I can give him as a reference.. Do you maybe have some files that you can share so that I can translate it into german and use it as a reference? I've only found the Radiology deck on your website, but are they still good to use as a reference when only using cloze deletion cards for 80% of the time? But man I really love u, you're saving hours and hours of work for me!! I got so burnt out from writing and reading thousands of basic flash cards.. The cloze deletion ones are really a game changer especially for nutrition sciences!!
@JakeRommMD3 ай бұрын
The best examples would be cloze deletion flashcards that you have made. Ones that you consider to be your ideal card. Alternatively, you could download a cloze deletion deck from reddit (Zanki, AnKing, etc) and grab just like 30-40 examples and put them in an excel file or word doc. I do have some, but they're all radiology themed and that might make it slightly less ideal than a more "on topic" example. But happy to share if you need them!
@lecraM19043 ай бұрын
@@JakeRommMD It would be awesome if you could send me some examples, so that I get a good start, and as I'm progressing making my own cards I can switch to the good ones I made!! Do you need an E-Mail or something from me? And I'm just curious how would you create an excel or word document with example cards so that the bot knows what the text area/note area is? Might be a stupid question but I'm so new and don't have the hang of it as of right now.. :D

My results were similar with Gemini compared to a regular GPT 4 chat, but I much prefer to use a custom GPT over both. I honestly am more interested in the potential open-source models trained on custom data sets these days.

my friend your custom gpt is only for Medicine?
@JakeRommMD7 ай бұрын
The custom GPTs I shared do not contain medicine specific prompts, but most of the examples I use are medicine related. Because that is my area of study and I have never made flashcard for any other subject. If your using a text resource, it should still work for you. Even if it's not medicine related because the criteria for what makes a good flashcard should translate to other fields.
