Yes, adjusting the pH with a base like sodium hydroxide will precipitate complexes, and in this case you used sodium carbonate. The sodium-gold complex was then decomposed through heat to break that bond. It is unusual to find such a high grade along with zinc, but mother nature never ceases to amaze, nevertheless.

You must do the steps correctly. No additional acid should be used, otherwise the recovery cycle inside the acid will be repeated continuously and will cause confusion.
