I absolutely agree with these comments. We choose not to pursue existing given what we were looking for acreage and finishes. If we would have waited for the same build, we would have paid 50k more today. I also agree with location and considering the greater Charlotte area. We went with True and completely customized on a .75 acre lot.

No one discusses how New Yorkers are pricing out the local market, which force either move further out or seek another affordable state. I worked at a Retirement Services Co (TC), which New Yorkers kept their NYC salary & moved into Charlotte (University Area). They made out like Bandits over us local company employees.

True, this does happen and just about everywhere. The opposite is happening right now in upstate New York. Out of staters are moving into Rochester, NY ( which, according to zillow, is a top 5 destination ciry in 2024), and the out of staters are driving the price up and the locals cant afford it. It's a vicious cycle. The only real solution is to create more supply of homes, but even then, people will be pushed outside of the city center.
