I appreciate the tutorial, I just got a question, when I press the track matt key, every layer tracks the layer above it, so 1 tracks 2 and 2 tracks 3, the only number that tracks that black feathered rectangle is 3, the solution i found was to put the 3 numbers in a pre-compoose, same thing with the 0-10k etc (gotta go through each one in their own comp to adjust the position which is not a good move lol).. is that a new feature in 2023 version or am I missing something. I'm using the 2021 version JFYI

Makes sense! Yes! This is a feature in new after effects. Now you can have 1 track matte for multiple layers. In previous versions you had to precompose the layers first.

Great video! But regarding the Grid there's an effect called grid in After Effects you can apply it rather than creating it on your own 🙏

Thanks! And yes you’re right! But that one doesn’t have the circles/dots. The grid effect is way easier though if you want something quick.

You can just mask something by precomposing it. The track matte feature is new!

Depends on the grid. If it's just a simple grid the grid effect works great. If you want it a bit more custom like dots in the centre then you have to make it manually.
