Buy a boat for yourself and rent a PWC whenever you get the itch for some adrenaline! At least thats what Im doing until I have money to get both haha. Also PWC is a big plus if you have other friends that have them too and you can explore together.

One con too is that you can't steer unless it's pumping water. With an outboard or stern drive you can steer even if you're just coasting

I now have a Merry Fisher. Sociable, dry, has a toilet, can cope with bad weather. But it's sooo boring. I miss my jetski every day! I need to have both....

I’ve always been my understanding that the engines in these things don’t last very long. (Goes generally forget boats too of course). I’ve heard of so many folks that have had to call on their warranties for engine problems if not replacement. And personally, the reputation and displays of behaviour of most owners, is something I’ll stay away from for good reason. I’ll stick with boats.

Definitely not the case with newer engines. They will last hundreds and hundreds and HUNDREDS of hours with regular maintenance. New four stroke motors will last forever
