I have lots that end up in my pile of art that I don't love and I save them to cut up for other things. Don't be too hard on yourself... save them and look at them later. You might be surprised how many you like later! 😊

Maybe warm up in a sketchbook instead of on paper? Having a sketchbook or journal that you’ve decided to allow yourself to make a mess of can be transformative. Then you’ll be closer to getting in the zone once you start on a separate piece of paper. Denise’s advice, naturally, is spot on. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Try to just enjoy the process and let go of preconceptions etc. In fact maybe even decide that what you’re aiming for is to swatch colours, or see if the pigment is intense enough to show up thru a stencil, or make a background/collage ephemera or whatever you’ll feel the least amount of expectation about. If you’re not ‘ feeling it’ about a piece or process do as Denise suggested and put it away to come back to. Sounds kinda unlikely but coming back to something when you’ve already warmed up with something else or you’re in a different headspace or whatever really can totally alter how you feel about it. Heh. That’s true of a lot of stuff in life isn’t it? Also : There’ve been too many times to count when I’ve really not liked something but other folks have loved it. Art is so subjective, and depends a lot on where your head’s at. I know that loosening up and letting go of expectations is rather counterintuitive because it’s pretty much the total opposite of how we’re socialised to be. That’s no doubt part of the reason why using creativity can help so much with our mental health. Sorry! I do tend to ramble on once I start. Hope you’re able to be kinder to yourself and can find a way that works for you.

So glad you are enjoying the videos!! Thank you 😊... I don't really clean my stencils... putting the paint on with the sponge like I do leaves a very thin layer of paint that dries very fast. So before you could get up to go rinse them off - it is dry. I don't worry about it. If the paint gets too built up - you might soak the stencil in water and then peal the paint off. for the brushes - I sometimes use brush cleaner - but mostly water with my water based paints. I’m going to try to work through all 500 color palettes and film it… might take years… but I think it will be fun. These colour scheme videos are so much fun, in great part due to your enthusiasm and positivity. I love them! Also, maybe I missed something, but have all colour schemes so far been from cube 1? Would it be possible to alternate between cubes 1 and 2, for those of us who are trying to decide which one to get for ourselves? If not, that's okay too. I love your videos regardless.

I alternate between them in the videos. I haven’t looked through all the palettes to see if there is a difference in the way they pulled the palettes together because I want to be surprised when I pull a color card. I don’t think it says on their site either. My goal is to eventually make my way through them all… such a good challenge working in colors that you wouldn’t normally try! 😁

Agree with you that the results were completely unexpected. I did not like this color combo at all, but you made it work so well. Loving this technique. I’m wondering if you could use watercolor paint right out of the tube. What do you think. I’m not a fan of acrylic mostly because of the smell. Blessings to you!

Right? Totally unexpected! Im sure you could use the watercolor out of the tube. Watercolor is a bit more expensive. The arteza ones I’m using are non toxic and I don’t smell them when I’m working with them. You might try a small sample of those and see what you think. You could substitute anything you have on hand really when doing these. Mark make with neocolor 2 crayons and skip stencils would be a good choice. 😊

I don’t have a special link. Just very inspired lately to do the color palettes in art challenges. I’m obsessed with the cubes and being to hold them in my hand as I paint. 😊

Oooh! Yes - you should make palettes with your photos! I do that too, but just haven’t gone through the trouble to do a bunch and print them… future project for sure! I’m not sure how to tell what colors are in each set for the Kuretake. I got the art nouveau set because I loved the colors… and added the 48 piece set after and got lucky… and now I love these so much I want them all 😂…

Oh cool! Thanks... I like making my own stencils with Yupo paper too... have you ever used Yupo? It is basically thin plastic paper... not very expensive for a whole pad... and you cut shapes out and have a great stencil. 😊

@@2lilowlsstudio I haven’t, but I’ve definitely heard of it and alcohol paints are so fantastic! That’s so cool you can use it for stencils too. I love how the artist works with them in these paintings. Have you ever done a video on your stencils? I’m pretty new to your tutorials and I’d love to see what you did! ♥️

I got as close as I could - might have looked different from the filming. I do think as an artist you should create in a way that delights you regardless of the choices others make. I use the cards as a guide, not as an absolute. I do challenges to learn and play and grow. Not to copy things exactly. 😊
